About Me

it meI’m a lady with a passion for books. I’ve loved to read since I was a kid and, even though I took (occasionally years-long) breaks away from reading as I got older, I’ve always considered myself a “book person.” I’ll talk your ear off – online or face-to-face – about books once I realize you’re one of my people.

My reading preferences have changed a lot over the last few years as I  transitioned from young adult to new adult to adult. I still read a little bit of each of these, but I definitely prefer books with kissing any more. (And, of course, MORE than kissing in most cases.) I’ll still read the occasional paranormal, fantasy or thriller, but I have to have some romance. #unapologeticromancereader

I’m also a photographer (see my bookstagram and personal Instagram), a die-hard football fan (WVU Mountaineers and Pittsburgh Steelers!), an occasional music, movie and TV addict. I live just outside of Washington, DC and occasionally dream of living in NYC… or in the mountains of West Virginia.smaller spacer

A Little Q&A

Here’s a little more on the “get to know you” front, which was originally done as part of a reading event I co-hosted with my bookish bestie a few years ago. My answers are still the same. 😉 So, in case you’d like to learn a little more…

How did you come up with your blog name?
Contrary to popular belief, my middle name is NOT Faye. It’s Bree. I’ve been kimberlyfaye online since the nickname was bestowed upon me, and I read books, so it was a natural fit for my blog name. (And sometime, if we’re face-to-face and I’ve had enough wine, I’ll tell you the story behind the nickname.) 😉

What genre/subject matter do you read and review most on your blog?
I read and review a little bit of everything, as far as fiction goes, but I definitely gravitate more towards romance than any other genre at this point. What can I say? I’m a sucker for love!

Where in the world are you blogging from?
Alexandria, Virginia

How did you get into blogging in the first place?
I’ve been an avid reader since I was a kid and I’m the person friends always turned to when they were looking for a new book to love. I started slowly by writing short reviews of books on Goodreads and I began following a couple kickass bloggers. By this time, my photography hobby had fizzled out so I thought “why not give book blogging a try?” It’s a lot of work and takes a lot of time, but book people are my people. I wouldn’t trade this for anything!

Apart from reading, what other hobbies/interests do you have?
Reading (and blogging) does take up the biggest part of my “free time” but I still try to make time for other first loves: photography and football. I also like to do some graphic design work from time to time.

If you were stuck on a deserted island, which books would you bring with you?
There’s electricity on this deserted island, no? In that case, I’ll take my iPad and a charger. That’ll keep me busy for a long time. 😉

What’s your favorite fangirl/boy freakout memory? (Meeting your favorite author, getting exclusive ARCs, etc.)
It’s so tough to narrow this down! I’ve been lucky to have a lot of fun moments with some of my favorite authors. I think I have to say my favorite one, however, was a few years ago at the Baltimore Book Festival. It was a great, low-key event and several of my favorite authors were there. It was wonderful to hang out with them in that kind of environment. Going to lunch and then shopping with Tessa Bailey, Megan Erickson and Diane Alberts was certainly the highlight though. It was the first time I’d spent any real time with authors – you know, aside from when I was chatting with them at a table during a signing – so it was special. And oh so much fun!

Which book got you hooked on reading?
As I said above, I’ve been an avid reader from childhood. But, I also found life got in the way of reading at times and I took breaks. I credit three series with bringing me back to my love of reading at different points in my life: Harry Potter, Twilight and Fifty Shades. It may sound trite, but it’s the truth.
