Y’all, I have college football on the brain. If you know me, this shouldn’t surprise you even a little bit. Because of that, I couldn’t think of a better topic for this week’s The Thursday Three. The season kicks off tonight (okay, there were some games last weekend, but officially…) and I am SO FREAKING READY.
Few things make me happier than fall Saturdays spent with the windows open, something yummy in the crockpot, and football on my TV. It’s the best kind of Saturday. Well, right behind spending it AT the stadium watching my favorite team play. But, with the pandemic, I won’t be doing that this year. I’ll just have to cheer my Mountaineers on from home. I hope my new neighbors are ready. (Spoiler alert: they’re not. You’ve not seen “intense” until you’ve watched a football game I care about with me.) 💛🏈💙
If reading about romance is more your speed, you should check out some of my favorites (if you haven’t already read them). And if you need more recs, hit me up. I love my football romances.
The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata
Goodreads | Amazon | My Review
Mariana Zapata is my queen and I couldn’t do this list without including my all-time favorite book.
✔️ Fake it till you make it
✔️ Marriage of convenience + the S L O W E S T slow burn
✔️ NFL superstar and his former assistant
And when you’ve finished with The Wall of Winnipeg and Me, you can see two secondary characters in Wait for It and Hands Down (another football romance!).
Fumbled by Alexa Martin
Goodreads | Amazon | My Review
Alexa Martin’s husband played in the NFL and that gives her some excellent insight in the sport.
✔️ Second chance
✔️ Secret baby
✔️ Tackles (ha, a pun!) the grittier side of football
This entire series is excellent. (Well, I haven’t read the fourth book yet, but I assume it will be great.)
The Game Plan by Kristen Callihan
Goodreads | Amazon | My Review
I adore Kristen Callihan’s books and this series in particular. New adult sports romance at its best!
✔️ Best friend’s sister (in-law)
✔️ Bearded, tattooed, virgin football player hero
✔️ Super steamy, A+++ dirty talk
In fact, I love this whole series. I’d check them all out — in order.

I’ve read Intercepted by Alexa Martin, it was really good. Haven’t read the others you listed though. Thanks for sharing them!

I’m a fan of football but I’m more of a baseball girl and was screaming my head off when the braves won the division again this year. But i have had fumbled on my TBR for a good amount of time now because I heard a lot about it on Booktube. May need to pick it up.
