I have “fish out of water” romances on the brain since I’m currently reading — and loving — one. My current read (It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey, in case you’re curious) isn’t one of my picks for this week’s The Thursday Three, but only because I haven’t finished it yet. Plus there are A TON of great backlist books with that trope and I wanted to talk about a few of them instead. Pilots and princes and pirates, oh my!

Fish out of water is a trope I love, but don’t read nearly often enough. Whenever I do, I crave more. I love seeing characters put into new and different situations outside of their usual experience. In a lot of cases, this new experience leads to character growth. Since I’m all about the characters when I read, this is especially enjoyable to me.
