Remember when I said I got my blogging groove back in May? Ha. Seeing that it’s *checks notes* July 17 and I’m just now posting my June recap, I think I was a little overly confident.
Since I’m so far behind, I’m going to keep the commentary pretty brief and just get to the good stuff — the books. I don’t think I have a lot to say about June except it was busy and hot. I know I’m in the minority, but summer IS NOT my favorite season. I do not thrive in summer. I stay inside as much as possible and enjoy the air conditioning because I can’t stand the humidity here. It makes me grumpy. But, I digress. Books!
June was a lackluster reading month. Most of what I read was what I would classify as “aggressively fine”. It’s pretty rare for me to only have one five-star read during a month. And it’s rarer still that the five-star read is a nonfiction title. It is what it is though. There were GOOD books, but only one GREAT book in June. Truth be told, I didn’t read a whole lot. I spent most of my downtime sewing, playing Pokemon Go or binge-watching an old favorite show (or two!) on TV.

Reading Challenges Update
The Goodreads Reading Challenge is first up! My screenshot isn’t quite perfect because I didn’t take it near the first part of the month, but close enough.
My goal for the 2022 Tackle My TBR Reading Challenge is four books each month. I read/DNF’d 8 in May.

Since I’ve been paying absolution no attention to #12Reads12Friends (created by @bookwormgram), I’ve decided to give it up. There are still some titles on that TBR that I intend to read, but I’m just too much of a mood reader to do it on a schedule.
While not an official challenge, per se, one of the things I’m doing this year is tracking how much money I’ve saved by using my library cards. I have a feeling my mind is going to be blown when I see the yearly total.
April savings: $11.99
2022 total: $519.55

Looking Ahead
There’s not much of July left to talk about, but I’ve also not done a lot worth talking about. It’s been so hot and humid and I’ve been so busy with work and overwhelmed with the world that I’ve spent a lot of my time disassociating while scrolling TikTok or watching an old favorite TV show on Netflix/Hulu/Prime/take your pick. It’s been too uncomfortable to spend much time outside, so I’ve mostly retreated to the air conditioning aside from a few mornings on the balcony. I don’t think I have much else going on for the rest of the month, but who knows what I’ll get into.

How was your June?
What are some of your favorites you read?
What are you looking forward to this month?
I started out my year keeping track of book purchases, then this summer I seemed to get behind. Not sure if I can go back and catch up, but I don’t know if I want to see it either! Lol. Sorry books in June weren’t as great as you’d hoped. Also, I am with you, I hate the heat of summer! I’m so ready for winter and snuggling under blankets! Hope your July went better than June!
