My Favorite Reads of September

Well, look at me getting the roundup of my favorites from September done during the first week of October! I guess #blogtober21 is having a positive impact on me. I read some fantastic books in September. Let’s chat a little about them.

With You Forever by Chloe Liese

With You Forever

Amazon | Goodreads

Have I said a time or ten how much I love Chloe Liese’s books? There’s something about the combination of romance, real-life issues and amazing disability/chronic illness/mental health rep that gets me every time. Sunshine and the grump + forced proximity + marriage of convenience = a very happy Kim. I love this series so much.

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

The Love Hypothesis

Amazon | Goodreads

I loved this book the first time I read it a few months ago and I loved it just as much the second time around. This fake it till you make it + sunshine and the grump with wonderful STEM characters (and demisexual rep!) is one of my favorite books of the year so far. It’s also one that I figure I’ll reread often. The audiobook is narrated by Callie Dalton, one of my favorite narrators. I loved how she brought these characters and this story to life in a new way.

The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun

The Charm Offensive

Amazon | Goodreads

What an absolutely charming book! I’m not a big fan of reality dating shows IRL — unless we’re talking about Love is Blind — but they are my jam in books. I was sold at the premise of a contestant on a Bachelor-like show falling for a male producer. It lived up to all of my expectations and the hype from other readers. I appreciated the anxiety rep and fell for Dev and Charlie so quickly. These two totally have my heart. I laughed, swooned and even cried my way through this one.

All the Feels by Olivia Dade

Amazon | Goodreads

Honestly, this book had me at BHE: Big Harpy Energy. And then again at “be the shrew you wish to see in the world”. Olivia Dade continues to impress me with her writing, characters and stories. Her fat rep is second to none and I thoroughly appreciate that. This book was fun and also put me in my feels more than once. Famous person/regular person plus there’s only one bed with a hero who reads fanfic romance and a kickass heroine? Count me in.

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me Mariana Zapata

Is it unnecessary to include this on my “best of the month” list every time I reread it? Probably. Am I going to stop? No. This was the 21st time I’ve read this book and there is no sign of stopping anytime soon. The start of football made me want to read this one again. Plus, I wanted it to be my 100th book of the year. Mission accomplished. I’ll never get tired of spending time with Van and Aiden. They’re absolutely everything and this book has such a special place in my heart. And yes, I cried again. (Always.)

The Only Plane in the Sky by Garrett Graff

Amazon | Goodreads

Yes, this is very much not my usual fare, but that doesn’t keep it from being one of the best books I read in September. There were bits that made me cry and those that brought back the trauma of what I witnessed happen live on TV that day. The personal stories — whether from survivors or those who received a last call from a loved one who didn’t make it out — were heartwrenching. There were also a lot of interesting behind-the-scenes bits I’d never heard before.
