Two years ago, I was struggling with my motivation to post here on the blog. I decided to participate in Blogtober19 to see if it would give me the kick in the pants I needed to blog more regularly. It worked… for a little while. Of course, at that point, I had no idea what was going to come in 2020 so I’m not too hard on myself. The last (nearly) two years have been brutal on my blogging. My reading, as well, if I’m being totally honest. But that’s a post for another time. I can’t fully blame the pandemic, but it’s taken a toll for sure. I’ve also taken up some new hobbies, opened up an Etsy shop and stopped treating reading like a competition.
So, back to the topic at hand — blogtober. There’s been a lot of radio silence here the last few months. Since I can’t seem to get back to blogging with any sort of consistency without some additional motivation, I decided to hop back on the blogtober train to see if I could kickstart my content here. It might be a miserable failure. But, I’m going to give it my best shot. I’d made the decision to participate in blogtober before the great Facebook/Instagram outage of 2021, but that certainly solidified it. I’ve spent so much time creating content for Instagram and my blog has taken a backseat. But, if Instagram went away tomorrow I’d lose all of that. This blog is something I can control — and something I pay for! — so I should use it more.
As was the case with my blogtober endeavor in 2019, I’m not really sure what all I will be posting for thirty-one days straight. (That’s a lot of days, y’all.) I’m going to try to get back to the mix of posts I love — reviews, discussion and fun stuff. If you have any suggestions, let me know. I’ll tag my posts with #blogtober21 so you can follow along if you feel so inclined.
Wish me luck!
