Alright, I know it’s probably a little late in July to be talking about my June favorites, but here we are. June was one of my best reading months of 2021 so far and I didn’t want to miss out on a chance to shout a little about my favorites of the month… even if it is nearly August.
The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren
I’ll forever love a good fake dating story and I especially appreciated the way this put a unique spin on it. A DNA-based matchmaking service? Brilliant. A little creepy, sure, but brilliant nonetheless. Jess and River brought the feels. (And Jess’s daughter and grandparents were fantastic too.) I was hooked on them long before they even realized they were falling for each other. Bless their soft, nerdy hearts.
Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert
I loved this book so much. Eve and Jacob made me laugh, cry and SWEAT. Holy hotness. But also holy feels. Aka everything I want in a romance. The audio was exceptional, too. Devouring this series via audiobook has been sheer joy. The Brown sisters are the actual best and I’m so sad this is the final book. But I’m also excited to see what Talia gives us next.
Hang the Moon by Alexandria Bellefleur
It’s been quite a while since I read a book cover to cover in one sitting, but I simply was unable (and unwilling) to stop reading this book once I started it. It’s easily a new favorite for the year so far. It made me giggle, swoon and cry more than once. Parts of it hit incredibly close to home but in a way that made me feel fondly nostalgic and not triggered. The romance, the found family, all of it. Absolute perfection.
Small Town Pretender by Brighton Walsh
All the stars! All the feels! Heartbreak and loss brought Nat and Asher together, but it’s what they did with the opportunity that hit me in all the right ways. This perfect little family they found together obliterated my feels and I loved every moment of it. Their book was the perfect combination of heat and heart, something Brighton excels at in her books.
