Current world events continue to have an impact on my reading, but I still found some gems last month. I’m finding mixed results with newly-released books, but I’ve read some fantastic backlist books recently. Let’s chat about my April favorites, shall we?
Beautiful Beginning by Christina Lauren
I totally fell in love with Beautiful Beginning. Hello, feels. What a perfect ending to the story arc of Chloe and Bennett. *heart eyes forever* It was funny, steamy and even had a few sweet moments that got me in my feels. Absolute perfection.
Tycoon by Joanna Shupe
This was a delight. From the train station meet-cute to the fake relationship and forced proximity (especially when there’s *gasp* only one bed!) Tycoon sucked me in from the start. Clara and Ted were endearing and the story was a great combination of sweet and sexy, with a side of feels and a little action.
You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle
I listened to several hours of the audio while working one day and didn’t want to stop. Nicholas and Naomi sucked me in. I ultimately ended up switching to the ebook to finish because I was too impatient to wait for the my audiobook time. This was absolutely delightful. There’s a lot of animosity in the first half, but the feels in the second make up for it. Loved this.
Don’t Go Stealing My Heart by Kelly Siskind
Oh, this was so good. I found myself savoring it instead of blowing through it. There were some twists and turns I didn’t see coming, along with a fair few feels and plenty of laughs and swoons. Clementine and Jack were just wonderful. This one was totally unique, with a planned art heist, Elvis impersonators and even bearded dragons. So much love for it.
Beginner’s Luck by Kate Clayborn
Y’all, I loved Kit and Ben. So. SO MUCH. I adored this book. I was just plain smitten with these characters. A STEM heroine, swoony hero, and slow burn romance — what more do I need? Kate is definitely a new favorite author find. I thoroughly enjoyed this in audio, even if it did take me a little while to get used to the male narrator’s voice.
