Five Things Friday

Happy Friday, friends! I hope you’re staying safe and healthy during this strange new time. I took a bit of an unexpected hiatus — for obvious reasons — but I’m trying to get back into the reading and blogging groove. Keep reading to see some of my new books and what was keeping me busy this week!

If you’ve been visiting my blog for a while now, you might know that Five Things Friday was born out of a desire to include more of ME on my blog. It’s gone through a couple of iterations now, but I’m pretty happy with where it’s landed.

FAVORITE BOOK OF THE WEEK

Tessa Ever After

I’ve been having a really tough time thinking about reading new books since this whole COVID-19 thing escalated in the US. I want comfort reads with characters I already know I love. That’s what led me to *finally* reread Tessa Ever After. (Which, by the way, is free now on Amazon!) Jason and Tessa are everything. It was wonderful to spend some time with them again.

THIS WEEK’S OBSESSION

Triscuit

While there’s a lot of news, misinformation and, quite frankly, scary things making the rounds on social media right now, there’s also some really great content. This Twitter thread about the origins of the Triscuit name is one of my favorites.

PHOTO OF THE WEEK

Open book flowers

Gotta love the portrait mode on the iPhone! I took limited bookstagram props — and books — with me when I left Virginia so that’s been an adjustment. But honestly, it was far more important to pack up food, clothing, and toiletries than it was books and props. #priorities

THIS WEEK IN A NUTSHELL

Well, this is all new and different, huh? My office closed on the 12th and we went full telework at that point. I stuck it out in Virginia until last Wednesday. My anxiety was getting the best of me and the idea of being in my small apartment alone — well, just me and the cats — for 23 hours a day — the other hour was for safe and socially distant outside time walking — was too much for me to handle. I spoke with my parents and decided to head to Pennsylvania to stick out the quarantine here at home. I’m grateful I had the option to do that and do it safely. It’s been an adjustment since I’m so used to being by myself, but it’s been wonderful to be here. My reading and blogging have taken a huge hit because I can’t shut my brain off long enough to do either. But I’m posting today so maybe that’s a positive sign. I also finished a book last night, so progress! Mostly, I’m just limiting my news viewing time and social media scrolling to help manage my anxiety about this whole situation. Stay safe, friends! 💕
