It’s day four of the Top 10 of 2019 event I’m hosting with Ginger and it’s time to talk cover love. This is one of the hardest topics to narrow down to ten every single year, but probably even more so this year. Why? Because of the eye-catching adorableness of this round of the illustrated cover trend. I’m constantly torn because yes, I do find them appealing. But, I also miss seeing covers with people on them. I can appreciate all of them, but find the illustrated trend misleading at times. One of these days I’ll get my thoughts in order and really talk about my feelings.
But for now? Let’s take a look at the covers that caught my eye this year.

My Life in Shambles
My gods there is so much to love about this cover. The male model’s hair and beard, that kiss, his hand on her face. All the swoons. Karina continues to have some of the most amazing covers.
I LOVE a good historical romance cover and Lisa Kleypas’ are often some of my favorites. I love all the gold on this one. And her gorgeous red hair. And that dress. Basically everything about it.
Kennedy Ryan has some gorgeous covers. There’s something about the black and white with the gold lettering here that just works for me so much. It perfectly encapsulates the passion between Maxim and Lennix.
Next Year in Havana
This is a special book and the cover is absolutely perfect for it. It’s just absolutely gorgeous and thoroughly illustrates the vibe of the story inside.
Get a Life, Chloe Brown
I have a major case of cover love for Get a Life, Chloe Brown. The illustrations of Chloe, Red and Smudge make me smile every time I look at them. It’s just delightful.
The Bromance Book Club
Not only is this cover absolutely adorable, but it also spawned some of my favorite bookstagram photos of the year. Gotta love those misters posing with romance novels in their back pockets. Too stinking cute for words.
Marriage for One
Y’all know I love a good, grumpy hero… right? This guy is the perfect Jack. That brooding look. That jaw. The scruff. I swoon.
Love in Due Time
This cover makes my book nerd heart happy. I love the pink library card and stamp. And the bearded dude cutout, of course.
The Best Thing
As is often the case with Mariana’s books, I had absolutely no clue what it was about when I went into it. I thought the cover was cute when I first saw it, but after reading the book I realized just how fitting it was. I’m a sucker for abstract photos and pretty fonts.
Twice in a Blue Moon
Anyone here surprised I am head over heels in love with a gold and blue cover? No one? You really shouldn’t be. It’s 100% on-brand for me.
