Five Things Friday

TGIF, y’all! I’m so happy it’s Friday and that I get to share my mini weekly recap with you. Keep reading to see some of my new books and what was keeping me busy this week!

If you’ve been visiting my blog for awhile now, you might know that Five Things Friday was born out of a desire to include more of ME on my blog. It’s gone through a couple iterations now, but I’m pretty happy with where it’s landed.

FAVORITE BOOK OF THE WEEK

Down Too Deep

Though I’d seen some amazing reviews for this book, I was a little nervous going into it. I’ve loved several of this author’s books in the past, but this series just hasn’t worked for me. I DNF’d the first book not because of story or writing, but because the dirty talking hero shares a name with my boss. Hard pass. I just couldn’t. I tried book two over the summer and DNF’d because I could not deal with the hero. But this book? It was magical. In the last few years, I’ve become a fan of the single parent trope but I’ve not read a book with TWO single parents. (And three absolutely adorable children!) Nothing but love for this Down Too Deep.

PIC OF THE WEEK

Bringing Down the Duke

Y’all know gold and blue are my colors. I couldn’t pass up this scarf when I saw it at Target. I love how it looks with my pretty sunflowers and this open book copy of Bringing Down the Duke. 😍

THIS WEEK IN A NUTSHELL

This week started off crawling by, but picked up steam the closer it got to the weekend. I’m not sad about that at all! So far it’s been a lot of football, reading and work. This weekend should be more of the same, but the work will be blogging stuff and chores around the apartment instead of my day job. One of the biggest libraries in the area is holding their semi-annual used book sale this weekend and I went to the preview night last night. I added quite a few new mass market romances to my shelves, too. And I’m still not entirely sure I won’t go back again tonight… 😂 I’m a sucker for a good used book sale and this is one of the best of the best!
