Five Things Friday

TGIF, y’all! I’m so happy it’s Friday and that I get to share my mini weekly recap with you. Keep reading to see some of my new books and what was keeping me busy this week!

If you’ve been visiting my blog for awhile now, you might know that Five Things Friday was born out of a desire to include more of ME on my blog. It’s gone through a couple iterations now, but I’m pretty happy with where it’s landed.

FAVORITE BOOK OF THE WEEK

The Best Thing

Is it premature to call this my favorite book of the week when I’m less than 50% into it? I think not. It’s Mariana Zapata, after all. The Best Thing dropped yesterday and I wasted no time scooping it up, changing lunch plans and diving right in. I’m loving it so much so far, I only wish I’d had more time to read last night.

THIS WEEK’S OBSESSION

This video is so damn bizarre, but the song is super catchy. I can’t stop singing it when I hear it. Is it just me or does it have reformed bad boy romance book written all over it?

PIC OF THE WEEK

The Best Thing

I’m obsessed with this book… and this photo. I picked up the tray and flowers last week when I hit the new Hobby Lobby by my apartment. (It’s dangerously close, yo. I need to forget it exists.) But, I think I’ve found my indoor summer theme… ?

THIS WEEK IN A NUTSHELL

Y’all. It’s been a week. Last Saturday, one of my friends and coworkers — and one of the best people I’ve ever known — lost her battle with breast cancer. Cancer fucking sucks. It’s so hard to believe she’s gone. As you can imagine, it was a tough week at work. Everyone is coping with her loss, while being grateful we had the time with her that we did. She was a light and basically a mentor for the entire office. So, it’s not been the best week. It’s affected me more than I really thought it would. But, I’ve tried to keep the emotions at bay as much as I can and channel them into something positive. I’ve been working with another friend to get a team together to do a cancer walk in her memory in October. I think that’s helped some. I feel like I’m doing SOMETHING. That’s all I really have. ??‍♀️
