That’s a Wrap: May 2019

That's a Wrap

Hi, June! Nice to see you. May was a fun month and I can’t wait to see what you bring, both in real life and in my bookish one.

May was a fun month overall, but also a busy one. Work kept me on my toes and my reading took a bit of a toll because of it. But, I also had some fun times with family and friends in May. One of the biggest non-bookish highlights was the Garth Brooks concert in Pittsburgh! Seeing him has been on my bucket list for years. Literally. I missed him the last time he was around and I’ve kicked myself ever since. See, I had an invite to go with a guy I was talking to, but well, I wasn’t all that into him and this would’ve been an overnight, so my stupid self said no. Way to go, past Kim. But I’m glad I had the opportunity to experience it with my mom. Garth puts on one hell of a show and we had a wonderful time!

May was pretty great with regards to reading, too. I know a couple of my favorites from last month will definitely end up on my 2019 favorites list. I hope The Friend Zone is on your radar. If it’s not, you need to add it. It’s an amazing book. I had several five star reads in May. I also had a couple two star, less than stellar reads, but that comes with the territory right? ??‍♀️

I’m co-hosting a fun bookstagram challenge with my friend Ginger this summer. It actually starts tomorrow, so there’s definitely time to join in if you’re interested. If you’re not into joining, you can follow along for some of my favorite romance picks and pics. ?

Sweet Summertime Reads

I’ll also be joining in with The Ripped Bodice’s Summer Romance Bingo! How fun does this look?

If you want to know more about what’s going on in my world, follow me on Instagram. I have a bookish one (@kimberlyfayereads) and a non-bookish one (@kimberlyfaye_). On the bookish one, you’ll find… lots of books. (And story templates dealing with books!) On the non-bookish one, you’ll find the other side of my life… my cats, travels, etc.

Reading Challenges Update

First up, the Goodreads Reading Challenge! Once again, I forgot to grab a screenshot on June 1, so this is a little out of date. But, not by that much. Hooray for being ahead of schedule!

My goal for the 2019 Tackle My TBR is four books each month. I knocked out five and actually reviewed a couple! The topic for May was New-to-you author and I ticked that one off the list with Loretta Chase’s Lord of Scoundrels.

Total: 28/48

The Objection Snowfall Because of You Desperately Seeking Roommate Lord of Scoundrels

This is my second year in a row doing an audiobook-focused challenge. My goal for the 2019 Audiobook Challenge is three books each month. I read exactly that. Well, as long as you count podcast novella stories. Which I do. ?

Total: 18/36

The Objection Snowfall Because of You

Romanceopoly is such an awesome challenge. I wish I would do a better job of mixing Romanceopoly reads into my reading schedule. I’m trying. I knocked out two – and part of a third – in May! That’s something!

Looking Ahead

Confession: I don’t love summer. At least not like some of my friends do. I hate the heat and humidity. When friends are heading out to the beach or pool, you’re more likely to find me hibernating in the air conditioning. Or the shade, at the very least. I’ll spend mornings outdoors before it gets too gross for the day, but that’s about it. I prefer more moderate temperatures. So no, I’m not over the moon about summer. BUT I’m thrilled to be attending not one but TWO book signings in June! Next weekend I’ll head to Pennsylvania to spend some time with my folks, but also head up to Pittsburgh on Saturday for the Black & Gold Author Event. Two weeks later, I’ll be on my way to Richmond for the Day for The Girls are Back in Town. Oh, and I’m also doing just a little bit of ALA.

Fun times ahead, but for now, onto the books!

I only read one June release early and you absolutely 1000% need it in your life. I can’t say enough how amazing The Friend Zone is. I’m already looking forward to rereading it. I will pretty much guarantee it will be on my top reads of 2019 list at the end of the year.
