That’s a Wrap: April 2019

That's a Wrap

I’m pretty sure I’m destined to NEVER get a recap post up on the first day of the month. Oh well. Here’s my That’s a Wrap for April. Better late than never, right?

April was a challenging month in a lot of ways. But, there was some good, too. I had some fun times with friends and family, did a bit (or a lot) of shopping, stumbled upon some used book sales and FINALLY went to a WVU spring football game. It was a gorgeous day for it, too. My mom and I had fun. It was really good to be home for a few days, especially since I hadn’t been there since Christmas.

On the not-so-good side of things… work has been insane lately. I’m hopeful it’ll calm down soon. My dad had surgery to repair a torn meniscus (and three tears in his pectoral) a couple weeks ago. He’s healing nicely, but impatient and uncomfortable. I also got word that a former colleague lost her battle with cancer. She was 38. So, so sad. That one hit hard.

April was a fantastic month with regards to books. I spent most of my month tackling ARCs — or drowning in them — and I found some amazing reads along the way. Of course, I also ended up with multiple book hangovers that kept me from reading for a few days after. But I can’t complain about knocking out 16 books. Especially given the book hangovers! I didn’t do a very good job of balancing ARCs and my TBR, but I hope to do better this month. May has a TON of amazing releases though, so I promise nothing…

If you want to know more about what’s going on in my world, follow me on Instagram. I have a bookish one (@kimberlyfayereads) and a non-bookish one (@kimberlyfaye_). On the bookish one, you’ll find… lots of books. (And story templates dealing with books!) On the non-bookish one, you’ll find the other side of my life… my cats, travels, etc.

Reading Challenges Update

First up, the Goodreads Reading Challenge! I didn’t snag a screenshot on the first day of May, so this is off by two books I think. But, I’m still trending ahead and that gets a big woo hoo!

My goal for the 2019 Tackle My TBR is four books each month. I knocked out five in April, but reviewed none. The topic for April was Movie adaptation, which led me to FINALLY read Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. Oh, how I loved it!

Total read: 23/48
Total reviewed: 6/48

Switch Bidder An Instant Connection Between Us and Forever Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda Fraternize

This is my second year in a row doing an audiobook-focused challenge. My goal for the 2019 Audiobook Challenge is three books each month. Done and done!

Total: 15/36

Switch Bidder An Instant Connection Between Us and Forever Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I need to focus more on Romanceopoly. I love this challenge. I’ve discovered some amazing books because of it. But, I’m drowning in ARCs and don’t always make time to pick up Romanceopoly reads. This month I read one — a book that’s been on my TBR for literally years — and I freaking loved it. Here’s hoping for one or two more in May…

Looking Ahead

I think the thing I’m most looking forward to in May is relief from my allergies. Here’s hoping, anyhow. This spring has been brutal. I’d like to spend some time outside… but not when the air outside is trying to kill me because it’s so laden with pollen. I don’t have a lot on my calendar for May yet, but I am very, very, very freaking excited for the one big thing on there. GARTH BROOKS IN PITTSBURGH. This is a major bucket list item for me, so I am over the moon. Plus hopefully the weather won’t be quite as miserable as the last time I tried to attend a concert at Heinz Field…

Now, onto the books!

May Book(s) I Need in My Life Immediately!
