That’s a Wrap: January 2019

That's a Wrap

Hey hey hey, January is finally over. Am I the only one who thought it went on for like three months? ? It wasn’t a bad month, it just moved slowly. But now that February is finally here, it’s time to recap the month that was in my That’s a Wrap post.

I ended up behind on all things reading and blogging right off the bat in January. (If I’m honest, I ended 2018 behind so it’s not particularly surprising.) Once I got home from my Christmas vacation, I was basically a crazy person trying to catch up with work and life before I went to New Orleans for work. Once I got there I had very little reading time because I was either working, spending time in the city with my friends or sleeping. I did a pretty good job of catching up once I got home though. For the most part anyhow.

I’ll talk about the books later, but for now I want to share some of my NOLA fun with you. Just in case you’re into that kind of thing. While it’s true most of my trip was spent working, I did have some down time fun with friends. My bestie flew in from Ohio because she was in desperate need of a momcation, so even though we didn’t get into much in the evenings, it was fun to come back and chat with her. We drank wine, ate good food, watched some football and she got the chance to hang with some of my favorite coworker friends. It’s fun when worlds collide. We spent a couple hours down on Bourbon Street just to say we did. That place is … a lot. We also ate beignets. Naturally.

I stuck around an extra day and a half so I could do some touristy things. I didn’t get too crazy, but I did finally get to visit Lafayette Cemetery. It’s been on my bucket list for ages. I rode the streetcar and ate some more food, went to a used bookstore, had beignets three days in a row (sorry not sorry) and went to the casino. (And won!) It was a fun trip. Here are a few photo highlights. (I have about 300 more cemetery photos which need processed and uploaded on my phone. I may have overdone it. But it was a super cool place.)

Even though I had fun in NOLA, I was so very ready to get back home. There’s just something about sleeping in your own bed, right?

If you want to know more about what’s going on in my world, follow me on Instagram. I have a bookish one (@kimberlyfayereads) and a non-bookish one (@kimberlyfaye_). On the bookish one, you’ll find… lots of books. (And story templates dealing with books!) On the non-bookish one, you’ll find the other side of my life… my cats, travels, etc.

Reading Challenges Update

First up, the Goodreads Reading Challenge! I didn’t grab a screenshot on February 1 before I logged my last read, so this isn’t entirely accurate but close enough. ??‍♀️

My goal for the 2019 Tackle My TBR is four books each month. I read exactly that in January, but reviewed none.

Total: 4/48

Holiday Kisses Tempting the Player Pretty in Punxsutawney Waiting for Midnight

This is my second year in a row doing an audiobook-focused challenge. My goal for the 2019 Audiobook Challenge is three books each month. I didn’t quite get there this month, but I’m confident I’ll catch up in February.

Total: 2/36

Bombshell Bounced Into Love

Romanceopoly is full of awesome and I’ve not been giving it nearly as much attention as I should. I had the best of intentions, rolling for my first selection just a couple days into January, but I started said book on audio and then struggled to find audio listening time. I’ll do better in February. I have to make up for lost time.

Looking Ahead

February is my birthday month! Hooray! Being a February baby, I also learned early in life not to make big plans because there’s a very good chance snow will ruin them. The last time I decided to make big birthday plans regardless, I ended up having to cancel a trip to NYC over snow. So, no birthday trips for this girl. I do have a birthday massage scheduled and I’m doing lunch with some friends. I’ll do most of my celebrating in March during ApollyCon. Unrelated to the birthday, I have a couple dinners and drink dates with friends this month, too. It’s going to be amazing release month, so that’ll keep me busy too. Nothing super exciting, honestly. But I’ll still have fun.

Now, onto the books!

February Book(s) I Need in My Life Immediately!

Some of my most-anticipated book(s) of the month… or the one(s) I haven’t received an early copy of, anyhow. 🙂

The Risk

February releases I need to read immediately!

These upcoming releases are at the top of my TBR! Soon, my pretties, soon.

Devil's Daughter The Last Letter False 9

Book(s) YOU need in YOUR life immediately!

I struggled hard to find reading time in January, so needless to say I didn’t get around to any February releases. But I’m looking forward to starting some this weekend!

That’s a wrap! I hope you have a great month ahead!
