As the end of 2018 approaches (rather rapidly, in fact) I’ll be spending the rest of it talking about my “bookish bests” during the Top 10 of 2018 event I’m hosting. Are you interested in joining? Check out the sign-up post for details.
Y’all, today’s Top 10 of 2018 topic, OTP, is nearly impossible for a romance-a-holic like me. I’ve gone back and forth over my list and I still can’t narrow it to just ten without feeling like I’m letting my favorites down. I won’t break my rules quite as badly as yesterday, but I am going to cheat a bit by including a bunch of honorable mentions. I fell in love with so, so many characters and couples this year and I feel like I need to give them a shoutout.
Edward & Lenora
Edward and Lenora’s romance was one for the ages. It was touching and real, swoony and so very sexy. They tugged at my heartstrings over and over and obliterated my feels more than once.
Grip & Bristol
Grip and Bristol are two of the most unforgettable characters I met this year. Their romance was so much more than a love story. These two put me through hell before they found their HEA, but I can’t say I’m sorry about any of it. So much love.
Michael & Stella
Michael and Stella’s relationship had an unconventional start, but that didn’t make it any less special. In fact, the opposite might be true. Their chemistry was off the charts and what built between them was beautiful.
Hunter & Brit
Hunter and Brit’s friends (with benefits) to more romance checked all my boxes. Theirs was so swoony that I basically cheesy-grinned my way through all of it.
Nate & Becca
Like many fans of the Brooklyn Bruisers series, I shipped Nate and Becca for ages. It’s no surprise that when it finally arrived, I absolutely loved it. Friends to lovers romance is my jam and theirs was perfect. And 100% worth waiting for.
Jake & Asha
Oh man, Jake and Asha. These two gave me all the heart eyes. Second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes and theirs was gorgeous. Add in the delightful slow burn between them and I was all in. Their story was full of all the romantic feels I need when I read.
Josh & Hazel
I couldn’t get enough of Hazel’s quirkiness mixed with Josh’s reserved nature. They complemented each other perfectly and their slow burn friends first romance gave me all the swoony feels. These two burrowed way down into my heart.
Dan & Kat
I have been waiting for Dan and Kat’s story FOR.EV.ER. Forever. It did not disappoint. Bringing them together in a fake marriage was PERFECT. The friendship, the sexual tension, the build-up of feelings? SO GOOD. So worth the wait.
Ivan & Jasmine
Another of my favorite tropes? Love to hate. Few authors write them as well as Mariana Zapata does, too. There’s something about the combination of that with her trademark slow burn that makes them just that much better. Ivan and Jasmine were pure gold. (Medal-related pun intended.) I delighted in watching them move from enemies to partners to friends to more.
Ian & Sam
I loved Sam and Ian. They were absolutely adorable. I loved their friendship, the banter and, boy did they have fantastic chemistry. I laughed along with the situations they found themselves in and relished each moment.
Marlee & Gavin (Intercepted) | Portia & Tav (A Duke by Default) | Aksel & Aurora (A Nordic King) | Pandora & Gabriel (Devil in Spring) | Hayden & Adalyn (One Baby Daddy) | Sam & Kia (Heaven and Hell) | Malcolm & Sera (The Day of the Duchess) | Roscoe & Simone (Dr. Strange Beard) | Helen & Rhys (Marrying Winterborne)
