Top 10 of 2018

As the end of 2018 approaches (rather rapidly, in fact) I’ll be spending the rest of it talking about my “bookish bests” during the Top 10 of 2018 event I’m hosting. Are you interested in joining? Check out the sign-up post for details.

First up is a prompt that’s near and dear to my “too many books, not enough time” booknerd heart — Books I Wish I’d Made Time to Read This Year. My eyes are often bigger than my bookshelves — or, at the very least, my reading capacity. Here are a few books I was excited about and had every intention of reading, but just never found the time.

The Bastard's Bargain

Goodreads | Amazon

I’ve loved The O’Malleys since I picked up the first book in the series. I’ve wanted to read Kiera and Dmitri’s story for ages, so I have no good excuse for not yet reading The Bastard’s Bargain yet. Except maybe I’m just not ready to let this series go quite yet.

Restore Me

Goodreads | Amazon

I was looking so forward to Restore Me that I even included it on my “Books I’m Looking Forward to in 2018” list last year. But, I still failed at getting around to reading it. Womp womp. If I’m being totally honest, I am a little nervous about it. You can’t have a book without conflict and I’m concerned about what that conflict will do to Warner and Juliette.

Starry Eyes

Goodreads | Amazon

Man oh man did I ever fail at Starry Eyes. I borrowed it from the library and didn’t get it finished before the due date, so I bought a copy for myself. But you know what I never did do? Go back and finish it. Massive mail, too, because I was thoroughly enjoying it. I need to make time to get back to it sooner rather than later.

More Than Words

Goodreads | Amazon

Mia Sheridan’s 2017 release, Most of All You, made more than one of my Top 10 of 2017 lists last year. I’ve been looking forward to More Than Words since it was announced. Yet, I never did get around to reading it. One of these days…

Wild Like the Wind

Goodreads | Amazon

A new Kristen Ashley book, in a series I love, and I still didn’t pick it up. You know what’s even worse? The reason I haven’t read Wild Like the Wind is because I never did get around to reading the Rough Ride novella she released in February 2018. So much fail. But, at least I’ll be in for a good binge when the time comes.

The Raging Ones

Goodreads | Amazon

YA sci-fi isn’t my genre of choice, but I love the twins so much I’ll basically read anything they write. The Raging Ones has been on my TBR since it was first announced. Naturally I’ve not gotten around to reading it.

Block Shot

Goodreads | Amazon

Spoiler alert: Kennedy Ryan is one of my favorite new-to-me authors of 2018. I haven’t finalized my “best of the best” list for the year yet, but I’m 99.8% sure Long Shot will be on it. I was so looking forward to Block Shot. I’ve heard amazing things about it. I’m kicking myself for not yet reading it, but I’ve got to get to it soon.

The Simple Life

Goodreads | Amazon

Tara Sivec is another of my favorite new-to-me authors for the year. The Simple Life sounds so good and I’ve seen wonderful reviews for it. But, for whatever reason, I didn’t get around to reading it this year.

Until the Last Star Fades

Goodreads | Amazon

I’ve had my eye on Until the Last Star Fades since I first saw this gorgeous cover. I have a bit of a thing for NYC, after all. The book also sounds amazing. Jacquelyn was awesome and reached out to me about reading and reviewing, but things got busy and I didn’t get around to it. Soooooon.

My Favorite Half-Night Stand

Goodreads | Amazon

Yes, one of my favorite author duos released a new book this month and I’ve not yet made time to read it. My Half-Night Stand sounds right up my alley and I’m pretty sure I’ll love it, but time has been a problem this month. It’s near the top of my TBR at this point, but I’m sure I won’t finish it before the end of the year.

  1. Fab list. I love taking part in these lists. I’m most excited about seeing everyones lists of their favourite reads of the year and the 2019 books they’re most looking forward to. It’s a great way to discover new books.

Thank you! I love them, too. More often than not, I find new favorites I might’ve missed earlier in the year. Gets the new year off to a strong start. 🙂

I *loved* Most of All You back in 2017! I have no good excuse for not getting around to More Than Words this year. I do love KA’s Chaos series. I just need to catch up with it.

  2. I LOVE Jenn Bennett, and Starry Eyes was wonderful! I can’t wait for her new releases. I also loved everything CLo put out this year, and I was really impressed with Restore Me. Some great new storylines introduced in that book.

I’m AWFUL when it comes to sticking at series, but I enjoyed the Shatter Me one SO MUCH that I have to try to continue on. I’ve heard lots of good about it. CL is always a win for me!

  3. We share several alike. I can’t believe I never got around to Restore Me this year. I was sooo excited for it… and then just never picked it up. I adore Krista & Becca Ritchie but I’m sad to say that The Raging Ones just didn’t work for me. It was one of only two books I DNF’d this year. *sad face* And My Favorite Half Night Stand… why was I not inhaling that the second it was released? My only excuse is the usual: too many books and too little time. 🙂 Hopefully we’ll both get to these soon!

Yessssss to all of this. Or all of it except The Raging Ones, anyhow. I’ve heard others say the same about it. I didn’t even bother picking it up. *sigh* The struggle is real.

    • Kim

Dude. That book. I’ve got to be honest, I almost stopped reading the book early on. I had to skip ahead and read the ending before I was willing to go on. It’s a hard book to read, but my god it’s gorgeous.

  4. I recommend reading Block Shot and My Favorite Half Night Stand. Those were both fabulous! Hope you get to them in the new year. Happy reading, Kim!
