Five Things Friday

TGIF, y’all! I’m so happy it’s Friday and that I get to share my mini weekly recap with you. Keep reading to see some of my new books and what was keeping me busy this week!

If you’ve been visiting my blog for awhile now, you might know that Five Things Friday was born out of a desire to include more of ME on my blog. I was writing about a new topic each week, but honestly, that got kinda old. It was hard to come up with something new each week. You know what that means — it was time to mix things up a bit. So, my current iteration of FTF was born… with some inspiration from Brandie @ Running on Words & Wine.

NEW TO MY QUEUE

NONE, y’all. NONE. How crazy is that?

FAVORITE BOOK OF THE WEEK

Hotshot Doc

If you caught my review yesterday, you know how much I love-love-loved Hotshot Doc! If you didn’t, let me just tell you this book was absolutely delightful. I laughed out loud, swooned and even had a few feels. R.S. Grey’s books are the best. ?

WHEN I WASN’T READING

It was a pretty busy week between work and just life in general. I was grateful for the bonus day off this week on Wednesday. I didn’t get as much accomplished as I thought I might, but I did get my Christmas tree decorated. Plus, it was really nice to be able to watch Bush 41’s funeral in the privacy of my own home and not, you know, be crying at my desk at work. I worked from home on Thursday and got a ton of work done, too. It’s funny that I get so much more done here at home where there are countless distractions than at the office. AND I get to do things like cook dinner in the Instant Pot, run the dishwasher and do laundry while I’m at it. #productive

PIC OF THE WEEK

Look, it’s not a book photo! Two of my friends and I snuck out of the office for a long lunch on Tuesday to pay our respects to President George H.W. Bush at the Capitol. I’m glad we did, too. Despite having lived in DC for the passing of now three former presidents and countless dignitaries, this was the first time I’d gone to see anyone lying in state in the Capitol rotunda. It was a moving experience, especially because we got into the rotunda just in time to watch the changing of the guards.

LOOKING AHEAD

I have two days of adulting ahead of me this weekend. There are quite a few things I want to get done around my apartment. I also need to take a bunch of book photos because I just can’t do it during the week. The lighting is awful. ? I hope to also find some time to read and, of course, watch the Army/Navy game. And maybe even get to the gym!
