Tell Me Something Tuesday is my latest meme addition to the blog. I can’t promise I’ll participate every week because sometimes I have a tough time coming up with something to say for every prompt for a meme like this. Still, I thought it’d be fun for something a little different.
Now, what do you say we take a look at this week’s topic?
Do you procrastinate writing reviews?
Since I first started blogging a little over five years ago, I’ve struggled with a balance between reading and writing reviews for the books I finished. Obviously I love talking about books, but I also really, REALLY like reading them. The time I spend writing reviews could be spent reading more books from my massive TBR. But, if I’m not reviewing what I read, then why do I even have a blog. The struggle is real, y’all.
The last couple months, I’ve tried my best to write my reviews within 48 hours of finishing a book. If I’m reading a review copy, I don’t struggle with this quite as much. It’s when I start dipping into my TBR or reading whatever I want that I tend to delay the review writing. I think that’s mostly because I get bogged down in whether or not I should review EVERY book I read. In theory, I’d love to. I just don’t think it’s realistic. Especially not when I don’t write said reviews soon after finishing a book. I forget too many of the finer points then.
I decided to take a little peek at my “needs reviewed” shelf on Goodreads to see where I stand currently. I’m 14 reviews behind. ? Truth be told, I kinda wish I hadn’t looked. ? What are the chances I catch up before the end of the year? Should I just cut my losses and give myself a clean slate for December? Food for thought. Balance is hard sometimes.
When do you write your reviews?
