Once upon a time, Sheriff Cash Hawkins left his simple life for something bigger---and came home with a broken heart. Now he has everything he needs right here in Oak Bluff, California---his job, his dog, and a quiet ranching town best explored on the back of a horse.

Olivia Belle believes in fairy tales---just not for herself. So when her boyfriend drops to one knee at his sister's wedding with a proposal that is more business than romance, she hightails it out of San Francisco in search of the only evidence she knows that true love exists---her grandparents' lost love letters from fifty years ago.

When Olivia speeds into his town like a modern-day Cinderella in her ball gown and glass slippers, Cash's careful existence is finally thrown for a loop. Maybe the answer Olivia's looking for is in Oak Bluff, but the life she ran from is more than 200 miles away. As for Cash... he knows a thing or two about being left on bended knee. Olivia Belle could be his happily ever after... if this runaway bridesmaid doesn't run off with his heart.

In Review: My Thoughts

I’ve been a big fan of A.J. Pine’s Crossroads Ranch series since I picked up Second Chance Cowboy earlier this year. I devoured Tough Luck Cowboy and anxiously awaited the third book. What I forgot was that I had a novella just sitting there waiting to be read. Oops.

Saved by the Cowboy was a great, quick read. It fed my need for more in the Crossroads Ranch series and it didn’t matter a bit that I read it out of order. Cash and Olivia’s story was super cute and I really enjoyed it. They had a great meet cute, oodles of chemistry and plenty of swoons, all packed into a little over 100 pages. This was a total feel-good romance and I cheesy grinned my way through the biggest part of it. I adored the way things progressed with their relationship and I also liked the secondary story with Olivia and her search for her grandparents’ letters.

I thought Saved by the Cowboy was a great addition to the Crossroads Ranch series. Now I can go back to waiting on Walker’s story in Hard Loving Cowboy! I can’t wait to get my hands on the last Everett brother!

Favorite Quotes:

“I mighta said something about being a little broken, but I sure as hell never told you that you needed fixing, and anyone who ever gave you that idea is a damned fool.”

“Are you gonna kiss me again, Sheriff?”
“Every chance I get, Miss Belle.”

I moved to a small town on the island of Maui, ready to live out my days on my own and far away from the monster I left back in Chicago.

It was the perfect reset until I needed something more. Someone more.

When I met Jake, the hottest guy in board shorts this side of the island, I started to live again. He's teaching me how to surf, making my toes curl from pleasure, and is the one person I want to let into my world, with one condition...

He can never know my real name.

No one can.

Because if I'm found, the life I'm building with Jake will vanish.

In Review: My Thoughts

Ellie Malouff’s debut, Between the Waves, caught my attention as soon as I read the blurb. A woman who is trying to escape her past and find a new life in Hawaii? Heck yes. Sign me up. This is the kind of escapism I can totally get behind. I loved the setting. It really made me want to hop on a plane to Hawaii. And that’s a long flight for someone who doesn’t enjoy flying. 😉

Audrey (aka Sara) was a great heroine. I appreciated her strength and determination to move on from her past. And, you know, try to feel a little less like an outsider in Hawaii. Surfing lessons with a hot as sin surfer seems like a great place to start. Jake was totally yummy and a really good guy, which was exactly what she needed. I enjoyed their romance a lot. It was very swoony and sexy.

Between the Waves was a super quick read. The setting and the romance were both wonderful. There was also a little bit of suspense in a storyline I really didn’t see coming. I liked what it added to the story though. I’m looking forward to reading more from Ellie in the future.

In Review: My Thoughts

If I’m being totally honest, the Wedding Date sat around on my shelves and TBR far longer than it should’ve. I was super excited to read it when I first got it and then, well, you know how it goes. Too many books, too little reading time. Once I finally did pick it up, I realized what I’d been missing and didn’t waste any time in devouring it.

I really liked both Alexa and Drew. From their meet cute to their fake relationship to their attempts at making it something real, I was totally sucked in. The characters were great and totally relatable. I particularly enjoyed the parts dealing with race and privilege. They were important but not overly heavy and fit in quite nicely with the romance. This is why own voices books are so very important. I love my romance books, but I also really appreciate it when I get to take a little something more away from my reading.

The Wedding Date was a great debut! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Jasmine’s second book, The Proposal, released earlier this month and I can’t wait to make time to read it, too. Here’s hoping it doesn’t take me months to get to it. I’m excited to read more from her.

In Review: My Thoughts

Can anyone tell me why I waited so long to read One King’s Way? On Dublin Street is one of my favorite romance series and it was so, so good to visit that world again. If I’m being totally honest, I didn’t really remember Craig when I started reading. (Cut me some slack, it’s been years since I read this series.) I think this helped because I didn’t have any preconceived notions about him going in, unlike some other readers said they did.

One King’s Way was a really good novella. It was a quick, easy and sexy read. I liked both Craig and Rain and enjoyed the progression of things between them. Their story had a nice mix of feels and sexiness. As you might have guessed, I loved seeing some of my On Dublin Street series favorites again. Do you know what this novella really made me want to do? You guessed it. Reread the entire series again. I own all the audiobooks so that just might have to happen.

Favorite Quotes:

I’m a messy paradox of a woman and it’s going to take a certain guy who can deal with all that. Not a one-night-stander.
