I’d say September snuck up on me, but that’d be a total lie. I’ve been counting down since the start of August. Because, football. Yet, I’m still a few days late posting my That’s a Wrap for August. Ah well. It happens.
August definitely wasn’t the most exciting month of the year so far and I’m not really sorry it’s behind us now. I didn’t get into much in August, between the rain and the excruciatingly hot and humid days, I had basically zero motivation to leave my apartment. Midway through the month I hit a total slump. I think it was from a lack of vitamin D, if I’m being honest. I didn’t want to read anything, I went an entire week without blogging and I had no motivation for bookstagram. I’m on the upside of that now and I’m grateful, because I didn’t enjoy it at all.
I’m pretty sure I spent most of August wishing it away, waiting for September and football and cooler weather and all the things that come with fall. Now it’s September but it’s still almost 100°, but at least there’s football on my TV. ?
If you disregard my mid-month slump, August was a freaking fantastic reading month. I consider several of the books I read in August some of my favorites of the year so far. I didn’t do so hot with the blogging thing in August, but I’m hoping to catch up this month.
If you want to know more about what’s going on in my world, follow me on Instagram. I have a bookish one (@kimberlyfayereads) and a non-bookish one (@kimberlyfaye_). On the bookish one, you’ll find… lots of books. (And story templates dealing with books!) On the non-bookish one, you’ll find the other side of my life… my cats, travels, etc.
Now, here’s the breakdown of my month of reading/blogging.
- Total number of books read: 19
- Young adult: 1
- New adult: 2
- Adult: 16
- New-to-me authors: 5
- Re-reads: 2

Reading Challenges Update
First up, the Goodreads Reading Challenge! I didn’t snag a screenshot on the first day of September, so it’s off by two books, but I’m still crushing this one. Woo!
My goal for the Tackle My TBR is three books each month. I read THREE in August. I’ve only reviewed one so far, but the others are coming soon.
The 2018 Audiobook Challenge is a new one for me this year and I struggled with it early on in the year, but I seem to have hit my stride now.
The Ultimate Reading Challenge was a late addition to my 2018 reading challenges and honestly I’ve struggled with it ever since. I’m not ready to pull the plug yet, but I’m just not all that committed to meeting my goal either. I did finally get May’s topic — set in a place you’d like to visit — done. But, I didn’t do June’s (movie adaptation) or August’s (on your TBR a long time) completed. Oops.
For the next 3-5 months, my answer about what I’m most excited about will be “football”. I freaking love football season. Of course, with it comes less time to do other things like read, but I’m willing to make the sacrifice. Other than that, I have a work trip to Pennsylvania later this month that should be … fun? Kinda? Maybe? I’m also slated to go to Philadelphia for a day trip for an author event, but I’m not 100% sure it’s going to happen. We’ll see. There is one bookish/blogish thing I’m looking forward to, but I can’t tell you much about it yet. Check out my post tomorrow for details. ?
Now, onto the books!
