My rating:

36 hours is a short spell when racing the clock.
2,160 minutes is an eternity for old friends to fall in love…

August Cruz is the only man I’ve ever loved.
He’s the one who got away.
He’s the one I totally screwed over.

Now he’s standing on my doorstep, nine years later, but he’s not the only thing that turns up. My mother’s lost diary is in my hands, and it might lead me to my father. A possibility I wished for one year ago, at my last birthday.

I have 36 hours to fulfill that wish.
I have 36 hours to drag August on a wild scavenger hunt.
I have 36 hours to protect my heart before I lose him again...because there's something he's not telling me.

I received a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration.

in review my thoughts

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a hundred times (at least) — I love a good second chance romance. I am also a huge fan of Kelly Siskind’s books so I was doubly excited for Licks. And it absolutely exceeded my expectations. I loved this book so freaking hard.

Gwen and August were best friends growing up, but they also both wanted more though neither admitted it for a long time. A misunderstanding and seriously unfortunate incident pushed them apart and ruined any chance they had at being together back then. Fast forward nine years and they’re face-t0-face again and have a day and a half to go on a wild chase to fulfill Gwen’s birthday wish — to find her father’s name. I loved watching them navigate their tricky past, the feelings that just haven’t gone away and the clues leading them to the answers Gwen needs.

Both Gwen and August were amazing characters. The only thing that makes a second chance romance better for me is when the characters were friends first. No one should be surprised I was all in, shipping Gwen and August HARD. Their chemistry was HOT and they gave good slow burn. I basically wanted to tell them to take a break from their hunt, lock them in a room together and let them work off the years of sexual frustration they had with each other. But Kelly’s way was definitely better. Not only did I wind up getting the hot and sexy times I wanted, but I also ended up with some serious feels.

I loved every little thing about Licks… and the rest of the One Wild Wish series, for that matter. This group of friends and their guys were fantastic. I loved the friendships and the relationships that developed along the way. I’m admittedly a little sad it’s all over, but I couldn’t be happier with how everything wrapped up. Side note: I’m thrilled this series is being released on audio, too, as I will be buying all of them for the rereads I know I’ll want to do.

“I might need you to pinch me sporadically, because I keep thinking I’m dreaming. The fact that I can touch you, kiss you, floors me. So if I stop mid-sentence from time to time to tell you how gorgeous you are, that your green eyes remind me of the first breath of spring, you’ll have to deal with it.”

“Making love to you could rebuild worlds. It could part oceans. Drop the stars from the sky. Making love to you is my reason why.”
