That’s a Wrap: January 2018

That's a Wrap

I usually start these posts by saying how quickly the previous month flew by, but that was so not the case with January. Does anyone else feel like January lasted, like, six months? Holy crap. I’m glad to have it behind me, to be honest. Between traveling for work and the stress that came with that and having bronchitis, two sinus infections (or maybe just one that went on forever) and getting basically the mini-flu from the flu shot, I’m done. I’m ready to start fresh with February. Hopefully I’ll be able to stay healthy and get back in some type of routine.

The books were probably the one positive thing about January. While I didn’t get a lot of reading time early in the month because of convention, I more than made up for it later on. I guess those sick days were good for something, huh? Well, aside from allowing me to get to feeling better, of course. I read A LOT of fantastic books in January. I definitely started the reading year off right!

If you want to know more about what’s going on in my world, follow me on Instagram. There you will find pics of my books, my cats, my outfits of the day and all the other photos I take during my travels around DC and elsewhere.

Now, here’s the breakdown of my month of reading/blogging.

  • Total number of books read: 18
    • Young Adult: 2
    • New adult: 1
    • Adult: 15
    • Historical Romance: 0

Reading Challenges Update

First up, the Goodreads Reading Challenge! I didn’t get my usual screenshot before finishing my first February read, so this’ll have to do. I’ve read 18 books so far and I’m feeling good about the start of my bookish year!

My goal for the Tackle My TBR Challenge is three books each month. I read 4 in January — and I even reviewed them!

Roman Ghosted J.M. Darhower Constant Rachel Higginson Sweet Tammara Webber

The 2018 Audiobook Challenge is a new one for me this year and I hate to admit I didn’t do such a great job right out of the gate. My goal was to read two audiobooks each month, but I only managed one (and, like, 3/4 of the second). I’ll do better in February! I just overestimated the amount of audiobook time I’d have with convention. Being sick didn’t help, either.

Looking Ahead

It’s my birthday month! Woo! I’m going to celebrate by not doing a whole lot of anything. Not to whine, but it’s tough to plan birthday celebrations when you’re born in winter. I’ve been disappointed so many times when the weather wrecks my plans that I’ve kinda given up making any. The two most exciting things I’m doing for or around my birthday are lunch with friends, which will be a lot of fun, and going for a massage, which is much needed. I’ll do the rest of my celebrating in March during ApollyCon. I am, however, really looking forward to the Olympics. I’m that kind of nerd. 🙂

Now, onto the books!

  1. I cannot wait to get my hands on Brooklyaire and The Beau & the Belle. All the raves are making me impatient, and I am such a fan of both authors. I really enjoyed Ghosted and Shalvis is always a win for me. I have to check out Hot Shot, because Halle’s is another go-to for me. I am so psyched for the Olympics! I am worried my reading will take a big hit as I try to watch all the games.
