Top 10 of 2017

For the last few years, I’ve been doing one of these “best of” the year series of posts as a way to tip my hat to the best of the best of the past year … and begin looking forward to the new year, as well. I love looking back and picking out my favorites and thought it would be fun to open it up for others to join. So … I’ll be doing that from now until the end of December. Interested in joining? Check out the sign-up post.

I know the old adage says you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but I’m totally guilty of doing just that. I’m a little bit of a cover snob, if I’m being totally honest, but I think it comes with the territory of doing graphic design work. Regardless, I like a wide variety of covers and I think my list below illustrates that perfectly. I’ve got a little bit of everything on there this year.

For a little extra added fun this year, I asked some of my favorite authors to join me in the Top 10 of 2017 celebration. I’m VERY excited to have Christine Manzari with me today. She’s talking about HER favorite book covers of the year AND she has an awesome giveaway for you.

Drive Kate Stewart

Goodreads | Amazon

I can’t think of a more perfect cover for this book. It’s the perfect mix of music and road and the colors are gorgeous. Such a beautiful book — inside and out.

Without Merit Colleen Hoover

Goodreads | Amazon

Colleen’s covers are always so interesting and do such a great job of capturing the vibe of the book. They’re unique and I appreciate that. Without Merit’s cover is no exception.

Moonlight Over Manhattan Sarah Morgan

Goodreads | Amazon

I absolutely adore the covers for Sarah Morgan’s From Manhattan with Love series. It’s probably because I’m borderline obsessed with NYC. This one is probably the best yet, though. There’s just so much to love — the holiday vibe and the snow and the taxis and the colors. Gorgeous.

Keep Her Safe K.A. Tucker

Goodreads | Amazon

Talk about another perfect cover for the story inside. It’s even prettier in the paperback version, too.

The Duchess Deal Tessa Dare

Goodreads | Amazon

This is, hands down, the most romantic book cover on my list this year. The colors grabbed me the very first time I saw it and the couple gives me feels. I love it so much.

The Opposite of You Rachel Higginson

Goodreads | Amazon

OMG this cover is a work of art. I neeeeed to get a print copy so I can lovingly run my fingers over it and see just how gorgeous it is in print.

American King Sierra Simone

Goodreads | Amazon

This is definitely one of the more simple covers on my list, but it’s just so freaking perfect for Ash’s story and the conclusion of this series. It fills me with all the feels whenever I see it.

Most of All You Mia Sheridan

Goodreads | Amazon

This cover is just plain gorgeous. There’s not much else to say.

Mister Romance Leisa Rayven

Goodreads | Amazon

Ok, the guy is attractive but that’s not what I love most about this cover… it’s the art and detail. This is another one I need in print so I can fully appreciate it.

Roommates with Benefits

Goodreads | Amazon

I mean, I had to include ONE cover with a seriously hot guy on it, right? Would you expect anything less?

Bonus Content

When I thought about which author I wanted to include in today’s post, it was basically a no-brainer. Christine Manzari is not only an amazing author — for real, her Hearts of Stone series is THE BEST — but she’s a book lover who has an absolutely gorgeous Instagram feed. Her bookstagram photos are some of the best I’ve ever seen. It was her love of books and her eye for art that made her a natural fit for this topic. Without further ado…

  1. I am a cover snob as well but the only covers I tend to be picky about are self published or indie authors. Some of them just don’t seem to care to much for a good cover. I think the cover for The Duchess Deal is AMAZING, Avon did a great job with that one. The stepback is gorgeous too so you should check that out if you haven’t seen it, you can find it on goodreads.

Yes! I tend to be pickier about indie books than traditionally published ones. There are some gorgeous covers out there on self-pubbed books… and then there are some that make me go “whhhhaaaaat?”
