WWW Wednesday

Happy hump day, y’all! It’s time for a little midweek reading round up as I talk about what I’m currently reading, what I recently finished and what I’m waiting to read — either an upcoming release or a book from my TBR.

what are you currently reading

When Autumn Collins finds herself accidentally locked in the library for an entire weekend, she doesn’t think things could get any worse. But that’s before she realizes that Dax Miller is locked in with her. Autumn doesn’t know much about Dax except that he’s trouble. Between the rumors about the fight he was in (and that brief stint in juvie that followed it) and his reputation as a loner, he’s not exactly the ideal person to be stuck with. Still, she just keeps reminding herself that it is only a matter of time before Jeff, her almost-boyfriend, realizes he left her in the library and comes to rescue her.

Only he doesn’t come. No one does.

Instead it becomes clear that Autumn is going to have to spend the next couple of days living off vending-machine food and making conversation with a boy who clearly wants nothing to do with her. Except there is more to Dax than meets the eye. As he and Autumn first grudgingly, and then not so grudgingly, open up to each other, Autumn is struck by their surprising connection. But can their feelings for each other survive once the weekend is over and Autumn’s old life, and old love interest, threaten to pull her from Dax’s side?

I just started this book last night because, quite frankly, I needed something simple and (likely) sweet and easy to read. The state of both book world and the real world — not to mention a stressful day at work — pushed me to make this decision. I’m about a third of the way through and really happy with my choice so far. 🙂

Camille Marino has got a full plate. As the sole guardian of her eighteen-year-old sister and the head chef and owner of a food truck, she’s used to life being a juggling act. With food to cook, social media accounts to manage, and a little sister to look after, she doesn’t have time for much else.

That is, until Drew Bautista walks back into her life.

Drew is Camille’s former high school crush and he returns to San Francisco to repair his relationship with his father before he ships out for deployment. By helping his father renovate his failing Filipino restaurant, he hopes to win back his respect. But when sparks fly between Drew and Camille—his father’s major competition and sworn enemy—Drew is conflicted. Should he join his father in the war against her food truck? Or surrender to the woman who’s given him a second chance at love?

I love, love, love, LOVED this book. What a fantastic debut. I loved the diverse characters. I loved the food truck storyline. (My second of the last couple months!) The second chance romance was perfection. SUCH a great book. I already can’t wait for the second book. *crosses fingers I’m approved on NetGalley*

WWW Wednesday [63]The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare
Series: Girl Meets Duke #1
Genres: Historical Romance
Publication date: August 22, 2017
Publisher: Avon Books
Format: eARC, 384 pages

Since his return from war, the Duke of Ashbury’s to-do list has been short and anything but sweet: brooding, glowering, menacing London ne’er-do-wells by night. Now there’s a new item on the list. He needs an heir—which means he needs a wife. When Emma Gladstone, a vicar’s daughter turned seamstress, appears in his library wearing a wedding gown, he decides on the spot that she’ll do.

His terms are simple:
- They will be husband and wife by night only.
- No lights, no kissing.
- No questions about his battle scars.
- Last, and most importantly… Once she’s pregnant with his heir, they need never share a bed again.

But Emma is no pushover. She has a few rules of her own:
- They will have dinner together every evening.
- With conversation.
- And unlimited teasing.
- Last, and most importantly… Once she’s seen the man beneath the scars, he can’t stop her from falling in love…

I’ve found that I can really only read and enjoy historical romance when I’m in the mood for it. That said, I need to read this one soon because I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it. Not that I’m surprised. The first historical romance I read was written by Tessa Dare and I’ve always been particularly fond of her books. I’m sure this one will be no different.
