It’s been ages since I did a good book tag! When I saw this one on Rebel Mommy Book Blog, I knew I had to do it. I thought these were some great “get to know you” questions. Ayunda @ Tea and Paperbacks did a great job in putting it together!
READING ON THE COUCH OR IN BED?
I do the most of my reading on the couch. When I lived with a roommate, however, I tended to read in bed because it was hard to do in the living room. Now I find if I start to read in bed, chances are I’m passing out — and often getting hit in the face with my iPad. Since that hurts like a mother, I try to avoid it. 😉
MALE MAIN CHARACTER OR FEMALE MAIN CHARACTER?
I love both almost equally. That’s probably why dual POV books are my favorites. If I had to choose, I guess I’d go with female just because I find them easier to relate to. Plus, it seems like the bulk of the exclusively male POV books feature manwhores who get reformed and… I’m just about over that trend.
SWEET SNACKS OR SALTY SNACKS WHILE READING?
I don’t do a lot of snacking while I read, but if I was going to I would pick salty. More often than not, I just wind up with a smoothie or cup of tea.
TRILOGIES OR QUARTETS?
Trilogies… as long as the books release in a reasonable timeframe. I suck at series and the wait can be excruciating. This is precisely why I prefer standalones or standalone series.
FIRST PERSON POV OR THIRD PERSON POV?
First person, please. And preferably dual POV. I like spending time in the heads of both of the main characters.
READING AT NIGHT OR IN THE MORNING?
A little of A and a little of B? During the work week, I can’t read in the morning or I’d never make it to work on time. (Unless you’re counting those audiobooks I listen to on my way to work and AT work.) On the weekends, I love morning reading once I’ve gotten some things done. When it’s warm out, finding a park or hanging by the pool with a book in the morning are my favorite things. (When it gets too warm in the afternoon, I retreat into the AC.) I can read at night anytime during the week, however. And, I often do.
LIBRARIES OR BOOKSTORES?
While I use my library card to check out ebooks and digital audiobooks, I don’t go there all that often. When I do, however, I get a little thrill out of allllll the shelves of books. I also tend to avoid bookstores because they are VERY bad for my wallet, but if I had to pick, I’d go with bookstores. Now if only I could practice self-restraint…
BOOKS THAT MAKE YOU LAUGH OR BOOKS THAT MAKE YOU CRY?
Both. More often than not, I lean towards the ones that will make me laugh — but might also cause a tear or two to drop — but sometimes I want nothing more than a book I’m positive will destroy me.
BLACK BOOK COVERS OR WHITE BOOK COVERS?
Well, I’ve never really thought about this. A quick perusal of my shelves shows that I have more books with black covers than white covers though.
CHARACTER-DRIVEN OR PLOT-DRIVEN STORIES?
Character-driven, hands down. When I read, I’m far less concerned with the plot being “predictable” (hello, it’s ROMANCE) than how I connect with the characters. (And how they connect with each other.) If that feels real to me, I’ll forgive little plot hiccups that would probably drive some other readers crazy.
