My rating:

All-American wide receiver Kyler Tate’s life is about to change. A fairytale college career skyrocketed him to the NFL draft. Adoration and opportunity are thrown in his direction wherever he goes, thanks to being chosen in the first round by the Los Angeles Rage.

None of the accolades mean anything, though, without his high school sweetheart, Bree Sutton, by his side. Four years ago, she walked away from Kyler, choosing a quiet life over the flash and notoriety his career would someday bring.

Now he’s back in their Indiana hometown, refusing to leave for Los Angeles without her. Demanding she give their life together a shot. Her heart never stopped bleeding for the love of her life, but Bree’s decision was final. Too bad their wild attraction has only been amplified by their separation, and Kyler won’t quit until Bree is wearing his ring.

I received a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration.
This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I was a fan of Kyler as a secondary character in Too Hard to Forget, so obviously I was excited to learn he was the star of this novella. Even though I didn’t know a whole lot about him or his relationship with Bree, I couldn’t wait to see him get another chance to make things work. What can I say? I’m a sucker for a good second chance story. Unsurprisingly, Tessa totally delivered that for Kyler and Bree… and me, of course.

One of my favorite things in romance is when the guy is ALL IN for the girl and relentless — in a non-creepy way. Or, get the girl back in this case. That alone made Kyler super swoony to me. Life was going great for Kyler, but he was missing one thing — Bree. He was determined to fix that while he was back in their hometown. I really liked both Kyler and Bree. I understood where she was coming from, but to be honest, I just wanted to lock them in a room together until they figured things out and she agreed to give him another chance. It was obvious she still cared for him. She just needed to let him back in.

This book just made me smile. It was fairly light and feel-good-y. It was actually trending closer to a 4.5-5 star read for me because I loved the characters and the romance so very much. The only thing that was lacking for me with this one was the sexy times. Y’all know I’m all for the dirty talking heroes that Tessa writes so well, but some of the things Kyler said just didn’t work for me and, honestly, they kinda pulled me out of the scene. That said, Too Hard to Forget was a great read. If you’re looking for something sexy, swoony and sweet, look no further.

“I would trade anything that happened on the field over the last four years… to keep that kiss we just had from fading away. You hear me, Bree Caroline?”

“There’s just you and me, Ky. The rest is just noise.”

About Tessa Bailey

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.

Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband of nine years and four-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.
