There’s no such thing as a little in love...

Elle Wheaton’s priorities: friends, career, and kick-ass shoes. Then there’s the muscular wall of stubbornness that’s security expert Archer Hunt—who comes before everything else. No point in telling Mr. “Feels-Free Zone” that, though. Elle will just see other men until she gets over Archer... which should only take a lifetime...

There’s no such thing as a little in lust...

Archer’s wanted the best for Elle ever since he sacrificed his law-enforcement career to save her. Their chemistry could start the next San Francisco earthquake and he craves her 24/7, but Archer doesn’t want to be responsible for the damage. The alternative? Watch her go out with guys who aren’t him...

There is such a thing as...

As far as Archer’s concerned, nobody is good enough for Elle. But when he sets out to prove it by sabotaging her dates, she gets mad—and things get hot as hell. Now Archer has a new mission: prove to Elle that her perfect man has been here all along...

Is there anything more perfectly swoony than a Jill Shalvis romance? In a world filled with angsty books — which I do enjoy from time to time — her books are a refuge for me when I want to escape and smile, swoon and feel my way through a read. Sometimes twice, like with Accidentally on Purpose.

I enjoyed my reread of Sweet Little Lies so very much that I knew I just had to continue and reread this book as well. I promptly purchased the audiobook and started enjoying it any time I could — in the car, at work, as I was doing chores around the house. As I often find with Jill’s books, I was torn between wanting to finish the book as quickly as possible and wanting to savor every swoony word so it was tough not to just switch back to my eARC and finish it in one sitting when my audiobook time became limited. I’m glad I waited though. Karen White does such a great job with Jill’s characters and writing that the audiobooks actually give me a different experience than just reading them does.

It probably won’t surprise you to know that I loved Archer and Elle. I enjoyed their antagonistic love story in the beginning and REALLY loved the sweeter side of things later on. Archer was bad ass, sexy as hell and protective of those he cares about. Elle was sassy, strong and a seriously likable heroine. I loved watching these two play off each other for this entire book. Their attraction was obvious, but they were also both so stubborn that they refused to give into it for the longest time. I pretty much wanted to lock them in a room and not let them out until they agreed to explore this thing between them — even with their complicated history.

I am absolutely in love with the Heartbreaker Bay series. I can’t get enough of the characters (both two-legged and four-legged), this setting and the story. Each book has been utterly charming, swoony and even a little spicy — everything I want in a romance. These are books you read with a smile on your face. Or at least I do!

“My deepest, darkest regret. It’s you.”

“I’m over it, Archer. Keep that admittedly great mouth to yourself until you figure your shit out.”

And moments later, as the world spiraled out of control, it was apparent that she not only owned his body, she was also the keeper of his soul.

“I feel things for you that I can’t even name.”

  1. I loved this book! Loved it! It is one of my favorite Jill Shalvis books, and i agree, Karen White is an amazing narrator. I recently read her upcoming Chasing Christmas Eve book (comes out in late September) and it’s amazing too!
