Sloan O'Malley just left her entire world behind-her family, her wealth, and even her real name. For the first time in her life, she's free. She can live the "normal" life she's always wanted. A life without fear. But there's nothing safe about her intensely sexy next-door neighbor.
Jude MacNamara has no room for innocence in his life. Only revenge. Still, he's never been able to walk away from the forbidden, and Sloan--who is every inch of pure, mouthwatering temptation--has forbidden written all over her. Only after it's way too late does he discover the real danger: claiming Sloan as his puts a target on her back. To protect her, Jude is willing risk everything . . . and to hell with the consequences.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration.
This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
OMG Sloan and Jude. I LOVED them. I was totally sucked into this book from the very first few pages and I read the bulk of it in one sitting because I just couldn’t get enough of the romance, action and suspense. It Totally addicting.
Jude was out for revenge against the family who slaughtered his family years ago. Sloan was trying to take control of her life for the first time ever. Their attraction is strong and nearly immediate, but neither of them are ready to take the leap at first. Jude wasn’t looking for anything to complicate his life any further. Sloan recognized that Jude was far from safe. But you can only hold off chemistry like theirs for so long. Once they gave in, things got intense pretty quickly… and were made even more complicated by the way their families are linked.
Forbidden Promises was a fantastic read. Sloan was a great heroine. I loved seeing her come into her own and learn to stand on her own two feet. Jude was sexy and dangerous and protective. He had a dirty mouth and y’all know how much I love that. The sexy times between these two were HOT AF. And then there was the action/suspense parts that had me gripping my book in one hand and the edge of my seat in the other. SO GOOD.
The O’Malleys series just keeps getting better with each new book. I just cannot wait for the next two books! I’m so glad this series is continuing.
“You want to know the truth? The truth is that I can’t look at you without wanting to strip you down, to run my hands over that tight little body of yours, to spread those sweet thighs and fuck you with my tongue until you’re screaming my name and begging for mercy.”
“This might not be forever, sunshine, but you’re mine for the duration. And I take care of what’s mine.”
“I spent my entire life bowing to others’ wishes, and I threw away my entire family for my freedom. Do not think for a second that I won’t do the same to you.”
“I’m keeping you. You had your chance to leave. You didn’t. You’re mine now.”
TOP 5 FAVORITE ROMANCE BOOKS
Son of Shadows – Juliet Marillier
Marillier is one of my favorite authors, but the story between Bran and Liadan hits all the right spots for me. I’ve reread this book so many times, it’s in tatters and I bought the ebook solely to preserve my original copy.
Wicked Deeds on a Winter’s Night – Kresley Cole
I love all of Cole’s Immortals After Dark series, but there’s something about Bowen and Mari that just does it for me. He’s so grumpy and angsty and she’s having none of his nonsense. And the sex. Good lord, the love scenes are smoking hot!
Wait for You – Jennifer L Armentrout
This book just blew me away. Avery is so damn relatable and sympathetic, and Cameron is one of the few heroes who I love beyond all reason who’d translate into someone I’d fall for in real life, too.
Memoirs of a Scandalous Red Dress – Elizabeth Boyle
This book is best enjoyed if read in order, since the couple have several near misses while their friends find love. They fought so, so, so hard for their happy ending, and it was one of the most satisfying conclusions those sacrifices that I’ve ever experienced.
Beast Behaving Badly – Shelly Laurenston
Laurenston is at her best with Bo and Blayne and their wacky, sexy shenanigans. I reread this book on the regular because I adore it so much.
Are you loving The O’Malleys as much as I am?
