Top 16 of 2016: Favorite Couples

Posted December 27, 2016 by Kim in Top 16 of 2016 / 4 Comments

For the last few years, I’ve been doing one of these “best of” the year series of posts as a way to tip my hat to the best of the best of the past year … and begin looking forward to the new year, as well. I love looking back and picking out my favorites and thought it would be fun to open it up for others to join. So … I’ll be doing that from now until the end of December. Interested in joining? Check out the sign-up post.

I hadn’t even started thinking about all the possibilities for this prompt and I swear it was half giving me anxiety. I primarily read romance — which you’ve probably figured out by now. I fall in love with characters pretty easily. It was SO TOUGH to narrow my favorite couples list down to 16. Hard cuts were made. Tears were shed. (Kidding. Kinda. Only a little.)

ALEX “Easy” & Dani

Goodreads | Amazon

My feels have feels just thinking about Easy and Dani. If you read Fly With Me, you understand why. This couple overcame so many challenges and a really painful past to find something beautiful together.

Josh & Isla

Goodreads | Amazon

This was a reread for me, but I’m still counting it. Josh and Isla were the best. First love at it’s best — and sometimes messiest.

Leo & Georgia

Goodreads | Amazon

Ahhhhh second chance love. It makes me totally heart-eyed. I loved reading about Leo and Georgia finding their way back to each other.

Sam & Nina

Goodreads | Amazon

Sam and Nina — and this book — did things to my heart. Good things. No, great things. It’s only been about 4 months since I read this book and I’m already itching to reread.

Mitch & Mara

Goodreads | Amazon

“Big Hearted Mitch” will forever be one of my favorite Kristen Ashley men. I liked Mara separately because I related to her in a lot of ways. I was unsure about these two as a couple at first, but I wasn’t hesitant for long. They gave me feels.

Jamie & Wes

Goodreads | Amazon

I loved Jamie and Wes in Him in 2015. I loved them just as much — if not more — this year in Us. (And even more than that in Good Boy, which I just finished… and which made me fall in love with Blake and Jess, too.) ALL THE HEART EYES.

Keir & Jessica

Goodreads | Amazon

No one writes complicated love — and complex characters — quite like Karina Halle and, for that reason, her couples stick with me for a long time. Keir and Jessica definitely did.

Cletus & Jennifer

Goodreads | Amazon

I wasn’t sure I would totally get behind the idea of Cletus and Jennifer when I started this book, but I quickly ate my words. They were one my favorite type of couples — the slow burn, friends first kind.

Rylan & Reese & Sloan

Goodreads | Amazon

Ok, ok. I know I said couples… but I’m making an exception here. I couldn’t have a “best of” list about relationships and NOT feature Rylan, Reese & Sloan. I never really believed menage could be anything more than sex before I read this book and saw how these three loved each other. I was totally wrong. It’s possible for a relationship to be between three people AND for it to be more than purely physical.

Zach & Lark

Goodreads | Amazon

Zach and Lark. My goodness. I can’t think of two characters more perfectly suited for each other — and for helping each other overcome their painful pasts and the lingering issues that remain.

Chris & Molly

Goodreads | Amazon

Holy crap, Chris and Molly. The ultimate “bad boy” and “good girl” story. Damn, I loved these two.

Jake & Chelsea

Goodreads | Amazon

Come on. You had to know that Jake and Chelsea would make this list. Does it count when their book was a novella? It does for me. I adore them more than I can possibly explain.

Kolton & Shay

Goodreads | Amazon

Enemies to friends to more is another of my favorite romantic tropes and Kolton and Shay were exactly that. The banter. The passion. The freaking feels. LOVED these two.

Emmy & Oliver

Goodreads | Amazon

I couldn’t have a best couples list without including Emmy & Oliver. Watching these two become reunited and move forward after he was kidnapped and gone for years? FEELS.

Dean & Allie

Goodreads | Amazon

Of all the books in this series, I was probably looking forward to this one the least. I found Dean off-putting. You know the manwhore thing isn’t my favorite. But, my god, talk about a character I came to love. And none of it would’ve happened without Allie. They were perfection.

Bodi & Ruby

Goodreads | Amazon

At first glance, compulsive and rigid Bodi might seem like a strange match for someone as artistic, awkward and quirky as Ruby, but they were truly perfect for each other. Their chemistry! So good.
