For the last few years, I’ve been doing one of these “best of” the year series of posts as a way to tip my hat to the best of the best of the past year … and begin looking forward to the new year, as well. I love looking back and picking out my favorites and thought it would be fun to open it up for others to join. So … I’ll be doing that from now until the end of December. Interested in joining? I know you’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but I can’t help it. The cover’s the first thing I notice about a book — for better or for worse — and I definitely select (some of) my reads based on it. Right or wrong, it’s the truth. I’m a visual person. I’m judge-y. (I’m also a graphic designer so that might be part of it.) It wasn’t easy to narrow down to just 16 covers, but I did it.
Surely you’re not surprised to see a Karina Halle book on my list of best covers. Hers are always absolutely gorgeous, but this one? *drools* The colors. The font. The lights. The passionate embrace. Perfection.
Colleen is another author who always has great covers, IMHO. This one is perfect for the book, too.
I love everything about this cover — from the watercolor, to the text treatment to the fonts and colors. Love!
Truth be told, this series has some of my own personal book covers EVER. Talk about unique. The cross stitch is absolutely brilliant. I would seriously frame these and put them on my wall.
First — WATERCOLOR! Also, the font. LOVE. And maybe best of all, it’s so DIFFERENT from most of what’s out there.
This one is just flat out gorgeous in its simplicity. Plus, you know, blue is my favorite color, so I’m obviously drawn to it.
I live in, er just outside of, DC and I love it, so of course this book cover spoke to me. LOVE the skyline at the bottom.
As someone with a major Top Gun fetish, how could I NOT love this cover?
The beard. The muscles. Rawr. HOT.
Can you tell I have a thing for people facing away from the camera and out of focus backgrounds in photos?
I adored this cover the minute I saw it. The guy is hot. The woman is gorgeous. The guitar and the bokeh from lights in the background? Perfection. It’s one of my all time favorite Kristen Proby covers, for sure.
When it comes to gorgeous covers, there’s nothing quite as pretty and romantic as a good historical romance cover. I love this one.
I didn’t get a chance to read this book, but I totally fell in love with the cover. The colors. All those lines. Gorgeous.
I had a really tough time picking a cover from this series. They’re all gorgeous. I went with this one because I love the photo the most. It’s so romantic and so perfect for the characters.
This cover is just flat out adorable and perfect for the book.
Maybe it’s because it’s Christmas, but this one gives me major heart eyes. There’s nothing quite like NYC at Christmas and this book cover brings back great memories of my trip a few years ago.
