For the last few years, I’ve been doing one of these “best of” the year series of posts as a way to tip my hat to the best of the best of the past year … and begin looking forward to the new year, as well. I love looking back and picking out my favorites and thought it would be fun to open it up for others to join. So … I’ll be doing that from now until the end of December. Interested in joining? First up is a category that’s definitely near and dear to my “too many books, not enough time” booknerd heart — Books I Wish I’d Made Time to Read This Year. My eyes are often bigger than my bookshelves — or, at the very least, my reading capacity. Here are a few I was excited about and had every intention of reading, but just never found the time.
I love this series. I love Christina Lauren. I honestly think the reason I didn’t read this one yet is because I’m so very NOT READY to give this series and these characters up. But I’m gonna have to do it sooner or later…
I’ve been waiting for a new Fisher Amelie book for a long time and, while she released TWO this year, I didn’t get around to reading either of them.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series and I was looking forward to the second, but I just didn’t make the time to read it!
I am so embarrassed by this. As much as I was looking forward to The Power and getting some answers, I never read it. I suck.
I don’t even have a good excuse for not reading this book. I was so looking forward to it, as I’ve loved each of Emery’s books, but it just never happened!
This is another case in which I SUCK HUGELY. Penny’s books are amazing. I was in the process of bingeing the entire Knitting in the City series when this one was released, but somehow I got distracted and never finished. I need to bump this one up to the top of the list because I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things.
Of all the books on this list, this is likely to be the first one I actually read. Why, you ask? I just read the second book in the series and I LOVED IT. I need to tackle this one so I can move forward in this series.
I had some slightly mixed feelings about Until Friday Night, but I’m a sucker for football books so I was still excited about this one. I still am. I just need to make time to read it.
New Emma Chase… and I didn’t read it. I’m awful.
I have no excuse for this one, either. After bingeing the Cinder series, I couldn’t wait to see Marissa tackle another world. This might be a good audiobook, actually. I’d probably read it sooner that way!
I’m horrifically embarrassed to admit I haven’t read this book yet. Y’all know how I feel about Tessa’s books. I can’t believe this one is on my list.
Again, I adore Morgan’s books. They’ve all been hits for me. I couldn’t wait for this one… then I just didn’t get around to reading it.
I’ve actually never read any of Mariana’s books. I was planning to rectify that with this one since it was so highly recommended by a number of bloggers I trust. I got intimidated by the size of the book and never started it.
I feel like I could use the same phrase under each of the books on my list today. Again, LOVE Penelope. Bought the book on release day. Just never read it.
I really enjoy Kasie’s books and I was looking forward to this one, but it never happened either.
I adored Jen’s debut, Calling It, so I was super excited about this one. But, as you do — or as I DO anyhow — I didn’t get around to reading the second. I’m sure I was bingeing something else at the time.
