It’s been thirteen years since Hope Moore left Devil’s Falls, land of sexy cowboys and bad memories. Back for the weekend, she has no intention of seeing the man she never got over…or the two of them getting down and dirty. It’s just a belated goodbye, right? No harm, no foul.

Until six weeks later, when her pregnancy test comes back positive…

Daniel Rodriguez hasn’t forgiven himself for how things went down with Hope all those years ago. He knows she’s better off without him, but when she shows up on his doorstep, panicking because she’s pregnant with his baby, he can’t help seeing it as a chance to make up for the past.

Too bad Hope has no intention of going along with his plans.

In Review: My Thoughts

Katee’s books are great for when I just need a quick, sexy read. This wasn’t my favorite of hers, but it was still enjoyable!

Of course, y’all know I love my second chance romances, so it shouldn’t surprise you at all that I was all about seeing what happened when Hope and Daniel were reunited. I knew I’d be in for a sexy romp and I was right about that. I thought this one might be big on the feels — between the unexpected pregnancy and the attempt to overcome issues from their past — but it really wasn’t. Not for me anyhow. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good story.I liked Hope and Daniel, even if I didn’t feel like I connected completely with them. (And, honestly, sometimes I kinda wanted to punch Daniel.) There’s no doubt Hope and Daniel had chemistry and some very real feelings for each other, even after all this time and all they’d been through. The sexy scenes were as hot as I’ve come to expect from Katee’s books.

I’m not sure if this is the end of the Foolproof Love series or not, but if it is, I’m glad I got the chance to see some of the previous characters again. All in all, A Fool for You was a solid book — quick, sexy and with just enough drama to make things interesting!

FAVORITE QUOTES

“When you look at me like that, I forget all the reasons I promised to leave you alone.”

“You always were my favorite flavor.”

About Katee Robert

Katee Robert learned to tell stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her favorites then were the rather epic adventures of The Three Bears, but at age twelve she discovered romance novels and never looked back.

Though she dabbled in writing, life got in the way—as it often does—and she spent a few years traveling, living in both Philadelphia and Germany. In between traveling and raising her two wee ones, she had the crazy idea that she’d like to write a book and try to get published.

Her first novel was an epic fantasy that, God willing, will never see the light of day. From there, she dabbled in YA and horror, before finally finding speculative romance. Because, really, who wouldn’t want to write entire books about the smoking-hot relationships between two people?

She now spends her time—when not lost in Far Reach worlds—playing imaginary games with her wee ones, writing, ogling men, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.

When CEO Renner Bastion walks into a room, everyone keeps their distance. Well, everyone but the sarcastic, tattooed, Boston-bred security guard whose presence has kept Renner in New Jersey longer than intended. As if the unwanted attraction isn’t unsettling enough, Renner finds out his protector isn’t as unavailable as originally thought.

Milo Bautista just came out to his wealthy, ultra-confident boss, a man he secretly respects and admires…in more ways than he’ll admit. Worldly, experienced Renner would never look in his direction, let alone share some of that confidence he wears like a cloak, so Milo has set his sights on someone else to be his first.

Until Renner offers him private lessons in seduction...

In Review: My Thoughts

If you know me at all, it’s no secret that I love Tessa Bailey and her books. I’ve loved every single one of her books, for one reason or another. (Often, admittedly, it has a lot to do with the dirty talkin’ men and the way they worship their woman… in and out of the bedroom.)  When she announced a few months back that she would be writing her first M/M book, I was elated. I also feared this book might actually kill me if she wrote two dirty talkin’ men. I survived, but it was touch and go for awhile there. 😉

Wound Tight was a great read. It was also a quick one, featuring characters we’d been introduced to earlier in the Made in Jersey series — gruff factory owner, Renner, and security guard, Milo. Renner hasn’t always been the most likable character in the series, so I was anxious to see how he would translate as a main character. I had nothing to worry about. I definitely came to understand him better during this book. I do like my grumpy guys in books, so I shouldn’t be all that surprised. He was the perfect alpha to connect with Milo, who was more or less in the closet and in need of some … tutoring, shall we say?

This one was a bit more of a slow burn than I’m used to from Tessa, but it totally worked for these two. Not only was this book as fuck-hot as you would expect, but the development of both Renner and Milo as characters was spot on and great to read. A bonus for all the Made in Jersey series fans out there? The epilogue. It gave me feels and made me giggle and I loved it. Wound Tight was a great way to close out this series.

FAVORITE QUOTES

“I’ll take care of you on both sides, won’t I? The hard and the sweet.”

“But please stop acting like a nightclub is Mars, for the love of God. You could easily do this on your own, but apparently you’re rubbing off on me because I feel…” He shivered. “Obligated to guide your path. You’ve turned me into gay Yoda. It’s not a good look.”

About Tessa Bailey

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.

Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband of nine years and four-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.

They say when life closes one door, another one opens.
This door happens to lead to paradise.
And a man I can never, ever have.

~~~
Still grieving the loss of her sister who died two years ago, the last thing Veronica "Ronnie" Locke needed was to lose her job at one of Chicago’s finest restaurants and have to move back in with her parents. So when a window of opportunity opens for her – running a kitchen at a small Hawaiian hotel – she’d be crazy not to take it.
The only problem is, the man running the hotel drives her crazy:
Logan Shephard.
It doesn’t matter that he’s got dark brown eyes, a tall, muscular build that’s sculpted from daily surfing sessions, and a deep Australian accent that makes your toes curl.
What does matter is that he’s a grump.
Kind of an asshole, too.
And gets under Ronnie’s skin like no one else.
But the more time Ronnie spends on the island of Kauai, falling in love with the lush land and its carefree lifestyle, the closer she gets to Logan. And the closer she gets to Logan, the more she realizes she may have pegged him all wrong. Maybe it’s the hot, steamy jungles or the invigorating ocean air, but soon their relationship becomes utterly intoxicating.
There’s just one major catch.
The two of them together would incite a scandal neither Ronnie, nor her family, would ever recover from.
Forbidden, Illicit, off-limits – sometimes the heat is worth surrendering to, even if you get burned.
Note: this is a standalone novel, unrelated to any previous books. It does NOT contain cheating of any kind.
In Review: My Thoughts
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again here today, no one writes complicated romance like Karina Halle. She proves it with every book and I fall in love with her characters every single time. It’s impossible not to.
The lush Hawaiian setting of Heat Wave was only part of its charm. But boy did it ever make me want to hop on a plane and go back to Hawaii — something I’ve not really been interested in because of the time it takes to get there from the east coast. Karina writes such a gorgeous picture with her writing, however, that not only do I feel like I’m there, but I also itch to go actually see it for myself. I don’t know of another author who does this, so it’s always one of my favorite parts of any of her books.
I also really enjoyed the characters and the romance — with the exception of one issue near the end of the book, anyhow. I won’t get into that because, spoilers, but it didn’t sit well with me when it came to adult characters. Regardless, Ronnie and Logan were wonderful together. Despite their tricky past — he was married to her sister, who died in a car accident — it was easy to root for them because it was obvious they made each other better. The romance was sweet and sexy and hot enough for me to understand where the name Heat Wave came from. 😉 Another winner, in my book!
FAVORITE QUOTES
There are moments in your life, people in your life, that when they cross your path and meet your eye, you know. Maybe it’s all in the chemistry, certain pheromones that react when they mix together, maybe it’s a smell that triggers a memory, maybe it’s a glimpse at a future you don’t recognize or a hint at the past, a life you’ve lived and forgotten. Whatever it is, you know that moment, that person, is going to shape you for the rest of your life.
I surrender completely. I want him to take me, take me over, devour me, annihilate me. I want every single part of him, deep, deep, deep. I want to see how much of him I can take, how he feels from the inside, what it’s like to be thoroughly fucked by Logan Shephard.
“I can’t promise I’ll be gentle,” he says. “But I can promise you’ll come so hard you won’t know any name but mine.”
In Review: My Thoughts
I’m a big fan of Sawyer Bennett and her books. (Especially her Cold Fury Hockey series.) When I started reading her Sugar Bowl series a few months ago, I was more than a little obsessed. They’re not like what I’ve come to expect from her and I enjoyed this darker side of her writing.
Sugar Free picks up right where Sugar Rush left off. Of course, I’m not going to tell you where that is just in case you’ve not read the first two books in the series yet. In fact, I’m not going to tell you a whole lot about this book at all so I don’t ruin it for you. All you need to know is that Sela and Beckett are in a world of trouble. This book kept my heart pounding as I devoured it, needing to see if this couple which I came to adore, would make it through the mess and out the other side. Fans of the Sugar Bowl series will be incredibly satisfied with the ending, I believe. I know I was. If you’ve not read this series yet — and you enjoy a darker, dirtier read every now and then — you should give it a shot.
FAVORITE QUOTES
“What you and I have, Sela… no one will ever comprehend it. No one will ever come in between it. But it’s real and it’s ours, and I’m never letting it go.”
In Review: My Thoughts
Oh, it’s been awhile since I read this book and failed at getting it reviewed! Believe me when I say the time that passed is no reflection on the book or my enjoyment of it. It’s not that AT ALL. This was a great conclusion to a du0logy I really liked.
His Royal Favorite picks up right where His Royal Secret left off, which was a relief because, while there wasn’t a particularly brutal cliffhanger in the first book, I was still desperate for more of their story. There was a lot of uncertainty in this book — from wondering how James’ subjects would react to an openly gay Prince (it wasn’t always great) to hoping that Ben would be able to live this life and whether or not his past would come back to cause a problem — so I just couldn’t read it fast enough. I didn’t even try to savor it. There were plenty of feels and sexy times along the way, as you might expect. Such a great, quick (for me) read.
Long story short, this was fantastic — just like every single one of Lilah’s books so far. She’s definitely earned a spot on my “must read” author list.
FAVORITE QUOTES
Ben had gone nearly two decades without telling another man he loved him, or even wanting to. Last night the words had kept pouring out him, again and again, like he had to keep saying it to James or else none of this would be real.
“Being without you wasn’t freedom. Loving you is what sets me free.”
