Bull rider Adam Meyer put Devil’s Falls in his rearview mirror years ago and hasn’t stopped running since. Now he’s back—temporarily, if he has any say about it. Restless, he finds himself kissing the sexiest girl in town…and agreeing to be the fake boyfriend in her little revenge scheme.
Jules Rodrigez isn’t interested in the role of town spinster. Being seen with a hell raiser like Adam is the perfect way to scandalize the residents, make her ex jealous, and prove she’s a sexy, desirable woman. And if their plan includes ridiculously hot sex—in public, of course—all the better.
But this thing between them has an expiration date. Putting down roots isn’t in Adam’s blood, and Jules’s roots in Devil’s Falls are bedrock deep. He’ll leave, even if it rips out his heart. But this time, he’s not sure he’ll survive it…
I’ve read several of Katee’s books and I’ve enjoyed each and every one of them. Her Brazens are, naturally, some of my favorites. When I saw this one was about a hot bull rider (ride ’em, cowboy!) I knew it was something I was probably going to wind up loving. I have a thing for country boys. And, you know what? I was right.
I found myself drawn right into Jules’ life as soon as I started the book. Her friendship with Aubry made me laugh and smile. I loved the way these two women played off each other and, even more, how they were there for each other. Of course, that was only (literally) just the beginning. When she and Adam were face-to-face for the first time and she was propositioning him to play her boyfriend for the night, I was all about it. I love the fake relationship trope. Sure, you probably know exactly what’s going to wind up happening in the end, but who cares? It’s fun and, at least when it’s part of the Brazen line, it’s sexy as hell, too.
I really liked Jules. She was a strong woman, but she still struggled with her “good girl” reputation. She wanted to be seen as more than that. More than the town spinster. Naturally the sexy cowboy, Adam, was more than willing to help her shake that reputation. Through a series of dates and hookups meant to “shock” the people in their small town, we get to watch as Jules and Aubrey really get to know each other and see how they might be more than a short-term part of each others lives. Their chemistry was smokin’ hot and there was even some (really, really good) dirty talk.
Foolproof Love was a great start to a hot new series. I enjoyed the characters (main and otherwise) and the small town setting. I am already absolutely itching to get my hands on Fool Me Once. I loved Aubry and I enjoyed the chemistry she had with Quinn. This one’s gonna be gooo-oood!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.
“If you could just play along and maybe kiss me like you want to do filthy things to me in the bed of your truck, I’d really appreciate it.”
“Tell me, sweet cheeks, did it hurt when you fell from heaven?”
“Nope, but I scraped my knees when I crawled up from hell.”
“You’re enough to tempt a saint to sin, sugar. And I’m nowhere near a saint.”
