When an unexpected inheritance elevates her family to the ranks of the aristocracy, Amelia Hathaway discovers that tending to her younger sisters and wayward brother was easy compared to navigating the intricacies of the ton. Even more challenging: the attraction she feels for the tall, dark, and dangerously handsome Cam Rohan.
Wealthy beyond most men’s dreams, Cam has tired of society’s petty restrictions and longs to return to his “uncivilized” Gypsy roots. When the delectable Amelia appeals to him for help, he intends to offer only friendship—but intentions are no match for the desire that blindsides them both. But can a man who spurns tradition be tempted into that most time-honored arrangement: marriage? Life in London society is about to get a whole lot hotter...
If you’re a historical romance fan and you’ve not read Mine Till Midnight yet, you don’t know what you’re missing. Lisa Kleypas is a HR goddess and, while this isn’t my favorite of her books, it’s definitely high on the list!
I went searching on YouTube for a completely different song to post here today, but stumbled across this instead. How’ve I never heard this song before? It gives me feels and I love both Dierks and Maren and their voices are wonderful together.
This week’s Must See is really more of a Must Read, but you’ll have to excuse me. I was uninspired when trying to come up with something cute or funny to post here. Then, I stumbled across the screenshot below on Facebook and I started raging. Like, big time dropping f-bombs on Facebook raging. If you’ve been living under a rock the last few days – or been distracted by gorillas and presidential candidates and whatnot – you might’ve missed the story about the Stanford University freshman who was convicted of sexual assault on an unconscious woman. You might’ve also missed the fact that the judge feared imprisonment would cause “severe” impact on said freshman. (Which, you know, it should BECAUSE HE IS A RAPIST.) Over the last few days, several things have come out, including the INCREDIBLE and brave letter the victim read to her attacker in the courtroom (which made me cry. hard.) and the absolutely foul, disgusting letter this dude’s dad wrote to try to plead down his sentence. It seriously makes me absolutely ill.
You, sir, are part of the problem.
Excuse me if I don’t give one single solitary shit that your rapist son will never be his happy go lucky self again. I also give not one single fuck that the verdicts broke and shattered him. You know why? Because his actions were HIS CHOICE. The person I do feel badly for is the survivor of his “20 minutes of action.” Her life will never be the same again. She’s had to endure something no one ever should.
This isn’t about alcohol consumption and sexual promiscuity. It is about rape. If you were a real man, Dan, you’d have taught your son as much. But instead, you enable him to be a loathsome piece of shit.
Part of me is sorry for not having something fun and lighthearted to share today in this space, but the fact is, this is just too important not to put out on blast. Rape culture at its finest, folks. I’m thoroughly disgusted.
What are YOUR Monday Musts?
