New York’s Finest
Blogging as *The Socialmedialite*
April 22
LADIES AND GENTS! I have an announcement!

You know that guy I featured on my blog a few months ago? The really, really hot Irish rugby player who plays the position of ‘hooker’ in the RLI (Rugby League International)? The one with the anger management issues, the body of a gladiator and the face of a movie star? The one with the questionable fashion choices leading me to ask whether he was the lovechild of a leprechaun and a hobbit? Ronan Fitzpatrick? Yeah, that guy.

Well, I have a confession to make…

THE HERMIT

Annie Catrel, social media expert extraordinaire at Davidson & Croft Media and clandestine celebrity blogger, can make anyone shine in the court of public opinion. She is the Socialmedialite, anonymous creator of New York’s Finest and the internet’s darling. Virtual reality is Annie’s forte, but actual reality? Not so much.

THE HOOKER

Ronan Fitzpatrick, aka the best hooker the world of rugby has seen in decades, despises the media—social or otherwise. The press has spun a web of lies depicting him as rugby’s wild and reckless bad boy. Suspended from his team, Ronan has come to Manhattan to escape the drama, lay low, fly under the radar. Only, Ronan isn’t easy to overlook, and he can’t escape the notice of the Socialmedialite…

THE PLAN

When Ronan is sent to Davidson & Croft Media to reshape his public image, he never expects to cross paths with shy but beautiful Annie, nor does he expect his fierce attraction to her. He couldn’t be happier when her boss suggests pairing them together.

What lengths will Annie take to keep her virtual identity concealed? And what happens when the hooker discovers who the hermit really is?

In Review My Thoughts

I’m not even gonna lie, my expectations for this book were ridiculously high. I’ve loved every single one of Penny’s books that I’ve read and I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about L.H. Cosway’s books, so I pretty much expected magic from this duo. I’m definitely one of the last of my friends to read it and every single one of them who has sings its praises and told me I would love it. They were right. I flipping loved this book and it exceeded every single one of my expectations.

I love smart, funny books with interesting (and awkward) characters and The Hooker and the Hermit delivered. Not only did I absolutely adore Ronan and Annie, but I could even relate to Annie in a lot of ways. The pairing was brilliant – the man who lives his life in front of cameras and the woman whose career (and hobby) keeps her behind the scenes – and it just worked so well. Their meeting was unconventional for sure – him as the subject of one of her blog posts and then later as her client – and it added to the awkwardness I love so much in these books. They had oodles of chemistry and passion. I loved the way their relationship grew and how they tackled the issues that threatened to plague them. Each of them had great growth over the course of the book, too.

This book was just FUN. Laugh out loud, grin like a fool and enjoy every single minute FUN. It was also sweet, swoony and sexy. Oh how I loved Ronan’s dirty mouth. Rawr. If you enjoy a healthy dose of humor with your romance, look no further for your next favorite read.

FAVORITE QUOTES:

That’s right, I’m a reclusive pervert, and I make no apologies for it. And, giving the matter some thought, a reclusive pervert is much preferable to an extroverted pervert.

No person is ever truly their online or media persona. For better or for worse, the human condition, desires, and faults are so much more robust than pixels on a screen or words beneath a caption.

“Bollocks, bitches, and Battlestar Galactica.”

I wanted to high-five the fuck out of myself then do a victory dance. But I didn’t, because, you know, manly.

“Vanilla’s not my flavor, Annie.”

Maybe I would get a ferret. A cat just felt too benign. My kind of crazy deserved an ambiguously cute rodent with a penchant for biting.

I would rather crash and burn in the flames of courage than sit in the comfortable, lonely shadows of air-conditioned cowardice for another second.
