TBR Thursday [11]

Happy Thursday! You know what that means… time for a new TBR Thursday!

My feature was totally influenced by Teresa @ Readers Live a Thousand Lives and her On My Shelf posts. I love love love the idea of spotlighting a title from my shelf (or, you know, my eReader) and seeing what you think about it. Have you read it? Should I read it or put it back on the shelf? Sometimes it seems like everyone is reading the same books at the same time and older titles have a way of just fading from the radar. I love this way of featuring an older title and, of course, getting a chance to talk about it with other bloggers and readers. And I want to force myself to do it regularly, hence the TBR Thursday title.

If you’d like to join in on the fun, I’ve created a banner you can use – or you can always make your own! (Right click and save as to grab the image for yourself.) Share your links in the comments and I’ll swing by and visit!

Now, let’s talk about this week’s pick, shall we?

TBR Thursday [11]Come to Me Quietly Series: Closer to You #1
Genres: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Publication date: January 7, 2014
Publisher: NAL
Add it: Goodreads
Buy it: Amazon

Aleena Moore is content with her life. She has goals and dreams and an easy smile. She also has a secret she holds locked inside.

Jared Holt believes he doesn’t deserve to love or be loved. He destroys everything he touches. Haunted by the mistake that shattered his life, he’s fled from the memory of that pain.

Jared doesn’t know why he’s compelled to return, but finds himself drawn back to the place where it all began. The exact place where it ended. When he runs into his childhood best friend, Aleena’s older brother Christopher, he agrees to share Christopher and Aleena’s apartment while he looks for a place of his own.

Aleena is no longer the little girl Jared remembers from his past and evokes feelings in him he never wanted to feel again. Terrified of destroying her, he fights to keep her away. But her touch is something he can’t resist—the touch that sealed his fate.

Their pasts are intertwined and their futures uncertain. The only truths they know are the secrets they whisper in the night.

I feel like this book has been on my shelves forever, but I’ve yet to pick it up. I love a good (and even angsty) second chance romance, so this seems right up my alley. I think the only thing keeping me from picking it up is that it’s part of a series and that means committing to (likely) cliffhangers and/or binge reading the whole thing. The Goodreads reviews are excellent, so it seems like it might be worth it. I just don’t know!

  1. The series commitment is what holds me back anymore. If it’s not a series standalone, I avoid it. I have read a book by this author before and enjoyed it. But not this series. Definitely comes with high praise, though, so may be worth it!

  2. The book you are sharing looks good….and we all know that we don’t have to continue with a series after reading one of the books…but it is kind of an obsession, isn’t it?

My TBR book today is not part of a series, but it is one of several by the author that I enjoyed…but something about this one is holding me back. Check it out at MY BOOKISH THURSDAY POST
