Arabella Stone, Nashville’s darling, is eager to shuck her prim-and-proper rep, and a few wild months spent checking items off her “ summer bucket list” is the way to do it. First up: kiss the man she’s crushed on since she wore a training bra, the bad boy of country himself, Blue bassist Charlie Tucker.
For Charlie, a beautiful woman flirting with him isn’t out of the norm—but a beautiful woman bolting after the hottest kiss of his life sure is. And when he finds out his kiss-and-run Cinderella is none other than Arabella Stone, daughter of his label’s CEO, he knows he’s in trouble. Because not only is she a Stone, she’s also his employee for the next few months at the recording studio he just bought.
Over the course of one thrilling summer, Arabella and Charlie chip away at her list, but once it ends, so does their time together.
As much as I love my steamy, sexy romances, every now and then I want nothing more than a sweet romance with all the swoons I can handle. That’s exactly what I got with Rachel Harris’ latest, You’re Still the One. I’ve only read a couple of Rachel’s books – I really need to go back and binge on her backlist – but I can see her being my go-to when I need a softer romance.
I’ve been on a bit of a “all things country music” kick the last few months, so when I saw Rachel was releasing a new series that centered around the country music industry, I was all about it. (Plus that *adorable* cover drew me in.) The blurb sounded fantastic and I couldn’t wait to read it. Charlie and Ella did not disappoint. There’s just something about the whole “bad boy/good girl” thing I love. I absolutely adored these two. From their off the charts chemistry to the “forbidden” aspect of anything happening between them to the slow burn and build before things finally exploded, I was totally hooked. This wasn’t a book where the characters fall for each other immediately and spent the rest of the book having sex. It was a sweet, slow build that allowed Charlie and Ella to become friends and eventually more. In fact, it was well over the halfway point of the book before they even kissed! But you know what? I loved it. It was real and all kinds of swoony. (In my brain, Charlie looked and sounded a whole lot like Luke Bryan. Not because of the “bad boy” thing but because of that slow southern drawl and smile. *sigh*) Of course, no romance novel would be complete without some type of drama/confrontation, but this one was low on the angst factor.
You’re Still the One was a great start to a new contemporary romance series I’m sure to love. I’m already excited over the idea of a second book, even if I don’t know when it’s coming or who it’s about! If you like your romances sweet with a side of serious swoon, this should be on your TBR!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.
“Baby girl, you destroy me,” he whispered against her lips. “You have to tell me if you don’t want this, because I’m holding on by a thread.”
“Don’t misunderstand. I want you bad, baby, but you’re good. So damn good. You deserve more than a sweaty night in my bed, and that’s all I can offer you. All I can offer anyone.”
Have you read any of Rachel’s books?
