The last two years I’ve participated in an “official” end of year wrap up challenge of sorts. In 2013 it was Fiktshun’s Top 13 of 2013. Last year, I co-hosted an event with a couple other bloggers. This year I decided to tackle it on my own because I haven’t had time to look for an existing event or think about hosting one of my own. So, from now until the end of December, I’ll be looking back on my year of bookish bests.
Oooooooooh boy. This was a hard list to nail down. (And I still totally cheated because I’m giving you five honorable mentions.) I read over 100 new adult books so far this year (since the year isn’t over yet!) so narrowing my list down to even 20 was nearly impossible. Here’s what I’ve got!
My Favorite New Adult Books
Brighton Walsh could rewrite the dictionary and I’d probably love it, so it’s no surprise one of her books made my best of 2015 list. I’ve read each of the three books in the Reluctant Hearts series now, but Tessa Ever After remains my favorite. Tessa was amazing. Jason was swoony. It was made of feels and I. Loved. It.
I knew when I read Hooked last January that it would be at the top of my favorites list of 2015. It left a mark on me for a million small reasons. Christine’s writing is fresh and incredible. I can’t wait to see if she writes more in that world.
We all know I love Tessa Bailey and her books. While I loved the entire Broke and Beautiful series, I had to pick just one book to showcase in this post. It was, without a doubt, Make Me. I’d waited for two books to see Russell and Abby together and it was totally worth the wait. Also, Russell is pretty much my dream guy, so there’s that. And the epilogue?! *big swoony sigh*
I’d have filled my list this year with all the Addicted/Calloway Sisters books, but that wouldn’t have been fair to the other amazing books I read in 2015. Long Way Down is my pick because it’s the last full length book in the series and it features my favorite couple, Ryke and Daisy. I don’t have enough words to tell you how much this series and this book meant to me. I’m so sad it’s over.
I don’t even know what to say about The Deal that hasn’t been said a thousand times before. It’s fantastic and real and sexy and YOU WILL LOVE IT. If you’ve not read it, get on that. I’ve also love love loved the second and third book in the series, so you should probably get ready to binge once you’ve started.
I knew I was in for something special when two of my favorite authors, Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy, teamed up to write a book. Him was brilliant. It was perfection. If you’ve not yet read a M/M romance, start here. I can’t wait for the sequel.
No favorites list is complete without Colleen Hoover. While I loved Confess, November 9 took the top spot in my heart this year. It broke me and put me back together in the way only Colleen’s books can do. It was beautiful and I cried and laughed and loved it all.
Christina Lauren’s Wild Seasons series is definitely one of my favorites and, while I’ve loved each book, Finn and Harlow definitely have a special place in my heart. Dirty Rowdy Thing was fantastic. Both times I read it. 🙂
Last Will and Testament was exactly the book I needed when I read it. I fell head over heels for this book. The feels! The unexpected events. All of it. I can’t wait for Right of First Refusal, the second book in the series. Soon, please?
Jay Crownover’s Marked Men series is one of my favorites. As sad as I was to see it all come to a close, I loved how it got there. Asa was wonderful. The last two lines of this book are probably the most perfect ones I’ve ever read.
I’ve loved Caisey Quinn’s books in the past, but her Neon Dreams series spoke to me on an entirely different level. I was so wrapped up in these characters and their lives that I can’t even begin to tell you. Whether it was listening to the playlists or rereading my favorite parts, I was all in while I waited for each subsequent book to be released. Missing Dixie brings it all to a perfect close and that’s why I chose it from the series. LOVED.
I said goodbye to a lot of my favorite series this year. It was hard. When it came to Aflame, I wasn’t even sure I wanted or needed this book. Before the events of Fall Away, I was happy with Tate and Jared’s story. But I’m willing to admit when I was wrong. What happened in this book made their story that much more real and perfect and now I can’t imagine the series without it.
Why haven’t I read any of Penny Reid’s books before now? Seriously?! Attraction was fantastic. It was smart and funny and I was completely obsessed with the entire series. I binged the hell out of it. I’d do it again. I can’t wait to read more of her books in 2016.
Oh, Seth. While I never actually finished the Covenant series (and remember little about it), I know I didn’t like you very well. Well, you more than redeemed yourself in The Return. Such a fantastic book. I swore I’d go back and reread/finish the Covenant series, but I didn’t make time. I have to in 2016. For now, as soon as I finish this post, I’m gonna go read the next book in this series, The Power, since I just got an ARC in my mailbox yesterday.
Broken was a book I grabbed on a whim. I really enjoyed the prequel novella a couple years ago but I never continued on with the series. Silly me. Broken was fantastic. It was pretty much made of feels and I was entirely wrapped up in each and every one of them.
I just couldn’t leave any of these books off my “best of” list. No way.
Have you read any of these books?
Would any of them make your top NA list for the year?
What are some of YOUR favorite NA books of 2015?
