Pilot-for-hire Zoe Stone is happy to call Sunshine, Idaho, her home base. But her quiet life is thrown for a loop when her brother’s friend Parker comes to stay with her for a week. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife special agent is a handsome flirt with a gift for getting under her skin. And the situation only escalates when Parker hires her to fly him around the area while he collects evidence on a suspected smuggler.

Now she has to live and work with the guy. But when they’re in the air, she sees another side of him. He’s driven, focused, and sharp. And while he enjoys giving commentary on her blind dates, she quickly realizes with a shock that it’s Parker who gets her engines going…

in review my thoughts

I’ve only read two of the books in Jill’s Animal Magnetism series, but I’ve LOVED both of them. The mix of fantastic characters, swoony and sexy romance and, of course, adorable animals is pretty much perfection. Clearly I need to go back and get caught up on the earlier books in the series. If these books are any indication, I’ll really enjoy them too. It’s nice to know that even if I don’t read them in order, I can still thoroughly enjoy this series. (And that’s pretty rare for me, too… I’m a read in order kind of lady.)

I enjoyed so much about this book. First and foremost, however, were the characters. Zoe was a kickass heroine. I mean… a pilot? So cool. She was kinda sassy and I liked that about her. I felt for her because of some of the ugliness of her past and understood completely why she had her walls up high and tight. She’s just dipping her toe back into the dating pool when her brother’s friend, Parker, shows up at her door looking for a place to stay while he’s in town. Cue the fireworks!

Zoe and Parker had crazy chemistry from the first minute they met – which was, in true Jill Shalvis style – hilarious. And just a bit sexy. 😉 Parker was a fantastic character on his own. He was keeping secrets, but for a good reason. His job was complicated and dangerous. He wasn’t supposed to spend long in Sunshine, Idaho, but I couldn’t help but hope Zoe and the things happening between them would keep him around a little longer.

With an edge of suspense, a smokin’ hot romance (I mean, dang) and some truly special moments with some furry characters, this book totally melted my heart. Seriously, Oreo and the kittens? These three gave me some of my favorite moments in the entire book. So adorable. But the times spent with Zoe and Parker sans furballs were also pretty amazing. There were plenty of feels and emotions to go along with the sexy and funny times. And it was all wonderful!

I just love Jill’s writing. She’s my go to author when I’m in the mood for some seriously sweet romance with a dose of heart and humor. I really do need to get caught up on her backlist.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a review.
