Hey folks! It’s Sunday again and you know what that means… time to meet another awesome blogger!

Today’s featured blogger is Christina from LuLo Fangirl! I actually met Christina first through last week’s featured blogger – Ethan from One Guy’s Guide to Good Reads! We’ve not yet met in person, but I feel confident in saying if/when we do, we’ll have a great time. This lady’s an awesome blogger! You should definitely be following her.

Learn more about Christina below… and make sure you visit her site for the weekly mini challenge!

How did you come up with your blog name?

The name name “LuLo” comes from “Luscious and Lovely”, which is the name that this site originally possessed because it was primarily a beauty/fashion site. But in 2013, I decided to expand my focus on ALL things that interested me, not just beauty. Not just fashion. So “LuLo” was born.

“Fangirl” was added in 2014 as my personal statement. A statement of ownership. Of pride. I used to get made fun of for being too excited about books or makeup or fashion. And I used to hide it. Not anymore. I wear the term as a badge of honor. I am a fangirl. And screw what anyone thinks.

What genre/subject matter do you read and review most on your blog?

I read/review any and everything that is of interest to me. But my favorite genre to read is contemporary romance or paranormal romance. I’m a hopeless romantic, so I’m always looking for love in hopeless places! I like to see characters come together in beautifully believable ways.

Name three books you’re most excited for in 2015.

  1. The Copper Gauntlet by Holly Black & Cassandra Clare
  2. Every Last Word from Tamara Ireland Stone
  3. The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearsonn store!

Where in the world are you blogging from?

Kansas City, MO!

How did you get into blogging in the first place?

I got my hands on The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and it changed my entire world. It’s since become one of my favorite books of all time, with City of Glass becoming my favorite of the series (I have a quote from the book tattooed on my right arm). I wanted to share my love of this book with everyone and blogging felt appropriate.

It was right around that time that the movie was being films and I followed the happenings of ALL of the cast, which allowed me to fall deeper and deeper in love with the series. That love become contagious and overflowed into the book industry as a whole. And I’ve never looked back!

Apart from reading, what other hobbies/interests do you have?

I am a professional makeup artist and a coach for young church musicians. I also do some writing on the side.

If you were stuck on a deserted island, which books would you bring with you?

  1. City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
  2. City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare
  3. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz
  4. The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay
  5. The ENTIRE Anne of Green Gables series by LM Montgomery

If you could have dinner with any three authors, alive or dead, who would you pick?

Benjamin Alire Saenz
WEB DuBois
Cassandra Clare

What’s your favorite fangirl/boy freakout memory? (Meeting your favorite author, getting exclusive ARCs, etc.)

The day that I met Jamie Campbell Bower is STILL, to this day, the best bookish moment of my life. He played my favorite male character of all-time, Jace Wayland (The Mortal Instruments) in the film. I actually cried after I met him because he was who I envisioned when I imagined my favorite character being brought to life. I’m still speechless over that day.

My SECOND favorite moment was meeting YA author, Amy Engel, for coffee and just discussing our love of books. We met in a neighboring town because we actually live half an hour from each other. And we just talked and talked and talked. About her book The Book of Ivy, our favorite reads, and everything in between. I still think of that moment, to this day!

Which book got you hooked on reading?

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
