Prim and proper beauty queen Lemon McCoy is at her wit’s end when one night of passion leaves her pregnant by Jessamine’s favorite ladies man, Tristan Lawson. Forced to turn to her childhood tormentor in her time of need, she convinces Tristan to marry her to keep the gossip in their small town at bay.
Marine turned hometown librarian Tristan Lawson has secretly loved Lemon McCoy for years but they can’t seem to be around each other without trading insults. When Lemon finally spends the night with him, it’s a dream come true, and he hopes, the start of something more. But the very next morning they are back to their bickering ways that forces the two apart. Until Lemon confesses that she’s pregnant with his baby, giving him a second chance he never expected.
Although Tristan agrees to a marriage of convenience, he is confident he can show Lemon they are right for each other. But can Lemon trust him with her heart, or will their past be too much to overcome?
I can always count on Marquita Valentine to give me swoony and sexy romance with hot southern men and sassy southern women. Love So Tempting was no exception!
I found myself sucked right into this book from the first few pages while reading the correspondence between Lemon and Tristan. I loved how they started out antagonistic and sarcastic, but easily moved to something more friendly and meaningful. I love when characters give good banter and these two definitely did that. I couldn’t wait to see how things would be once they were reunited after Tristan returned from overseas. Unfortunately, thanks to a miscommunication – or, more specifically, a meddlesome sister – their reunion wasn’t exactly what they or I was hoping it would be. However, fast forward a few years and things got back on track.
I liked Lemon and Tristan together. I might not have liked how they were apart, but since I didn’t have to read chapters with them with other love interests, it was pretty easy to push it out of my mind. The best part of the book for me, aside from the opening banter, was once Lemon realized she was pregnant and they decided to make a go of a relationship for the kid’s sake. Baby storylines aren’t always my favorite thing, but I liked it here. I think mostly because it was so obvious these two belonged together, but they were stubborn and afraid to make the jump. The baby provided the incentive they needed to get their heads straight.
Love So Tempting was a great addition to the Lawsons Brothers series. It was a quick and easy read that I found sexy, sweet and romantic. The love/hate thing could’ve worn me out if it continued too long, but thankfully it didn’t. I enjoyed this one!
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
