Can you believe it’s June already? Seriously? This year’s almost half over and I have zero idea where it’s gone. All I know is May was one amazing month. (So amazing at the end that it has taken me DAYS to even think about writing a wrap-up worthy of it!)
As far as real, non-bookish life went, May was pretty low-key. Nothing particularly exciting happened there. All the fun was to be found in book world. Not only did I read some fantastic books in May, but I teamed up with one of my best bookish buds to put together a fun summer reading challenge AND I went to BEA and another signing event in NYC.
If you’re a fan of reading challenges – particularly ones where you can win fun, bookish prizes – you should check out the Booking Through Summer Reading Challenge. BookNerd Betsy and I put this little event together (in a week) as a celebration of our love of reading and a throwback to the days of Pizza Hut’s BOOK IT program in our youth. It’s a pretty chill challenge. You get entries into the grand prize giveaway for posting reviews of books you’ve read – on your blog (if you have one), Goodreads or a major retailer. You can post one link per day! Additionally, we’re taking this opportunity to introduce you to some of our favorite bloggers – who will have fun mini challenges for participants – and authors we love – who are joining us to talk about their favorite bookish things. It’s fun. You should join us. 🙂
BEA was amazing. I’m still suffering withdrawal from it and I’ve been home nearly a week now. My wrap-up post(s) for it are coming soon. Promise. But, in a nutshell, I had wonderful roommates, we had great success (and fun!) at the Javits Center each day and the nights (which I’m calling BEA After Dark) were incredible times filled with dinners with favorite authors and late-night games of Cards Against Humanity and book talk. These are my people. The real world just can’t live up to book world.
The other signing I went to in NYC was the Sexy in the City Author Event. I was originally planning just to visit for an hour or so and then head back to DC, but one of my favorite authors – Tina Torrest – needed an assistant so I decided to stick around, FINALLY meet her and spend the day with her. I’m so glad I did, too. We had a great time during the signing and even more fun at the hotel bar afterwards. Love that lady! Despite my assistant duties, I found a few minutes to sneak away to talk with Tessa Bailey, Kristen Proby, Emma Chase, Laura Kaye and Jennifer Probst. (And, naturally, I got books signed, too.) It was a fun event!
June – you have a lot to live up to.
Here’s a breakdown of my month:

I read some really good books in May, but these were my five star reads. (One was a reread. I loved it just as much the second time around.)

June is probably going to be the laziest month of this entire year for me. I have NOTHING planned. No trips, no signings, no big plans. After the (amazing) exhaustion of BEA, I’m going to need this time to get my life back together… and get caught up on reading and reviewing. Who knows, I might even finish up my blog overhaul.
Of course, there are some books I’m looking forward to in June…
Books I need in my life immediately!
No matter how hard I try, or how excited I am about a particular book, it seems like I never get fully ahead. These are the June books I really need to read ASAP!
June releases I need to read immediately!
And, of course, I have to mention just a few June releases I read early that you MUST check out. These were SO GOOD.
Books YOU need in YOUR life immediately!
That’s pretty much it for now! Have a great month! 🙂
