Avery Yeung’s biological clock just went off early. Thanks to her family’s medical history, she’s running out of time to get knocked up. And the only guy within donating distance? Her overprotective—and irritatingly hot—best friend. So clearly she needs an anonymous donor…

Anonymous donor? Over Sheriff Drew Flannery’s dead body. While daddyhood will never be in the cards for a man with his past, Drew won’t let Avery shop for a “popsicle pop.” He’ll do what’s right for his best friend by doing his best friend. But only if they do it properly.

But there’s nothing “proper” about it. Between the bed, the kitchen counter, and against his squad car, Avery and Drew are having the hottest sex ever. They can’t get enough of it—or each other. And without knowing it, they’ve crossed the one line that could ruin their friendship forever…

in review my thoughts

When I read In Bed with Mr. Wrong, I couldn’t help but like Avery and Drew. Their meddlesome ways were at least partially responsible for the pairing of Bri and Ryan and I loved them for that. In all honesty, they seemed more couple than friends to me in that book, so I was thrilled to learn they were getting their own story.

Avery was a great heroine. I admired her for taking control over her life and deciding she wanted a baby before hereditary health issues might keep her from having the child she wanted. It was a brave choice, especially considering she was single and her traditional Chinese family was likely going to be completely against the idea. But, after watching cancer claim her mom and then try to do the same with her sister, she saw her path fairly clearly. She had the same genetic markers as her mom and sister and she would fight like hell, but she wanted a child before that all began.

I loved Drew. He’d been struggling with feelings of more than friendship towards Avery for awhile, but her announcing she was going to have a baby with a stranger was the last straw. The alpha male in him wouldn’t let that happen. If she was going to have a baby, it would be his and he would be there for whatever she needed.

I’m a total sucker for a friends to more book. I was already half in love with the idea of Avery and Drew after reading them in the first book, so of course I was rooting for them here. I wanted Drew to get over his past with his father and be a good man for Avery. I thought they had great chemistry and a solid relationship. I really liked them together.

I enjoyed Falling for His Best Friend. It was sexy as hell and had plenty of sweet moments, too. The drama wasn’t too much – even if I did want to smack Drew around a bit when he does the thing he does. Thankfully he came to his senses sooner rather than later so I didn’t get too angry with him. I’m definitely enjoying this series and hoping that Avery’s sister, Alexis, gets a book soon. That’s a woman whose story needs to be told – and one who is desperately in need of a HEA.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

About Katee Robert

Katee Robert learned to tell stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her favorites then were the rather epic adventures of The Three Bears, but at age twelve she discovered romance novels and never looked back.

Though she dabbled in writing, life got in the way—as it often does—and she spent a few years traveling, living in both Philadelphia and Germany. In between traveling and raising her two wee ones, she had the crazy idea that she’d like to write a book and try to get published.

Her first novel was an epic fantasy that, God willing, will never see the light of day. From there, she dabbled in YA and horror, before finally finding speculative romance. Because, really, who wouldn’t want to write entire books about the smoking-hot relationships between two people?

She now spends her time—when not lost in Far Reach worlds—playing imaginary games with her wee ones, writing, ogling men, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.

  1. The friends to lovers troupe has always been my least favorite, but it seems like I am starting to like it more and more each time! I am glad you enjoyed this one!
