The New York Times Bestseller, Beyond Me, captured reader's hearts.

Now the stunning story of Quinn and James continues...

It was supposed to be a love story....

I knew she was out of my league but I didn’t care. Looking back, I wonder if I hadn’t pursued her, would things have turned out differently? Is it Fate that determines our choices in life? God? Free will? Or just plain old innate selfishness?

I got her, of course. There hadn’t been a girl I wasn’t able to seduce. Problem was she seduced me right back, body, mind, and soul. She possessed me, tormented me, and showed me a world that was so bright and pure I was almost blinded.

Didn’t she know after such a drug I could never settle for less? Didn’t she realize no matter how many times I screwed up, or broke her heart, or bent her to my will, I’d never be able to let her go?

If I hadn’t known such intensity existed, would it have been better for both of us?

True love, the real kind, isn’t nice and sweet and pure. No, it’s dirty, and sinful, and messy.

It’s like ripping a chunk of flesh from your body and watching yourself bleed out in slow, helpless intervals until you thankfully pass out.

This isn’t a love story. But it’s the only story I got.

in review my thoughts

I loved the first book in this series when I read it last year. There was just something refreshing (and super sexy) about James and Quinn’s story in Beyond Me. When I finished I wanted more of their story so I was thrilled to learn there would be a sequel. After reading the blurb, however, I was more than a little concerned. It made the book sound pretty dire, didn’t it?

Well, much to my relief, it wasn’t. It wasn’t all sunshine, puppies and rainbows for James and Quinn as they adjusted to life in Chicago together, but it all rang so very true. It was obvious how much they loved each other. It was just outside forces like family, professors and co-workers who were causing the trouble this time around. And boy did the tick me off. I wanted to scream at all of the secondary characters in this book. You know when you watch a scary movie and you’re like “NO! DON’T GO IN THERE!” … that was me reading this book. I could see the trouble coming a mile away, but I had no way to protect James and Quinn.

There was definitely some relationship drama in this book, but I didn’t find it too angsty. There were also some fantastic moments between James and Quinn. And the sexy times? Holy hell. I thought the first book was hot, but dang. This one was even hotter. Sweet James is nice, but dominating James is even hotter. *fans self*

I definitely enjoyed this one. It was a short book that I devoured in a little over an hour. To be honest, I didn’t initially love the idea of James and Quinn’s relationship being put to the test, but I really liked the direction the story took. Like I said above, it never felt overly angsty or forced. Chasing Me was a great addition to the Sex on the Beach series. I just love Jennifer’s writing. I really need to read more of her books. I’ve only read four, but I’ve enjoyed all of them.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
