My rating:

After everything blew up on Christmas, Liz walked away from me, and I let her. She said she needed space and a chance to pursue her dreams. But we both knew she was running from the mess she made. Now the political campaign she used as an excuse to leave is bringing us back together and I’m proving to her what she really needs—not just the hot nights, greedy hands, and undeniable physical chemistry. What she really needs is something real. What she really needs…is me.

in review my thoughts

I’ve been anxious to see what would happen with Liz and Sam after the cliffhanger at the end of the last book. I can honestly say, I was completely taken by surprise at the path the characters went down in this book. It was full of twists, turns and revelations. (And sexy times, of course.) There was a healthy dose of angst and misbehaving characters that made me want to hurl my iPad. (But only because I liked them and wanted the best for them and the things they were doing were DEFINITELY not best.)

Despite their best effort to make me insane during this book, I really liked Liz and Sam. She’s reeling from all she lost after learning the true identity of her cyber hookup, Riverrat. I felt so bad for her. She made some mistakes, but she certainly didn’t deserve to lose all she did over it. She probably drove me less crazy than Sam did during this one. From where I sat, Sam was just flat out self-destructive. He was making all kinds of horrible decisions and I wanted to shake some sense into him.

Something Real was a solid read. Liz and Sam were traveling a bumpy road, but I never stopped hoping it would lead them back together. I’m sad to see this series come to an end, but can’t wait for the next spinoff series with characters from Lexi’s New Hope gang!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

  1. I am super excited for Max’s story! I couldn’t believe who she paired him with! I think it’ll be fun, but I’m sure Meredith will be an annoying appearance. But I love books about single parents finding love. I don’t even know why either… I just do! Anyhoo- I kinda figured that you know who was the mastermind behind everything, but ugh. She got what she deserved IMO. I did feel a few plot lines were unresolved in this one, but overall, I was satisfied with Liz and Sam’s conclusion.
