Someone’s playing a deadly game…
Two men vying for your attention—seems like every girl's dream come true. For Hannah Wellesley, the dream has become a nightmare. As she continues to navigate her feelings to determine which man she truly belongs with—the first love who’s become her current business rival or the enticing new chef who’s testing her sexual limits at every turn—a new set of problems presents itself. One that includes a breach in hotel security that has her fearing for her own safety and the reputation of the Wellesley-Crawford.
Soon she finds herself playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse that might just cost her everything she’s worked for—and maybe even her life.
Holy cow! Elizabeth Lee gives good serial. This episode was even more addicting – and quite a bit darker – than the first! I started it last night shortly before bed because I figured it would be a quick read before bedtime. It was that, but it was also full of heart-pounding suspense that left me thinking about it long after I’d finished reading. I couldn’t get my mind to turn off so I could fall asleep. And you know what? I’m ok with it.
The second episode finds Hannah conflicted about her feelings over the two men who have recently entered her life. (Or, reentered her life, I suppose.) Carter and Trent are both incredibly interesting characters and I can see why she would be interested in each of them. The wealthy man whose family co-owns the hotel with Hannah’s vs. the sexy new chef. Let’s just say they both have their good qualities. Of course, not everything is as it seems. One of these men (or is it??) is playing a dangerous game and Hannah’s the target.
My mind is twisting around in circles trying to figure out who the mysterious, psychotic “Him” is. I have my theory, but I won’t tell you who I think it is. I also know books like this frequently come with twists, so I’m not at all confident in my assumptions. But, damned if I won’t continue to analyze every action – and every one of the chapters by “Him” – until I figure it out. Or, you know, the truth is revealed.
The Hotel Collection is what a great serial should be. It’s sexy and suspenseful. The characters are multi-dimensional. The ending of each of these episodes has come with a “OH NO! MORE PLEASE” moment. (So yes, cliffhangers. But they’re oh-so-very good!) Most importantly, they’re being released just a few weeks apart, so readers like myself don’t have a long wait. I am hopelessly addicted to this series. I’m almost sad that there’s only one more episode left. But, at the same time, I’ll be waiting with bated breath to find out how this all wraps up.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
