That’s a Wrap: January 2015

Posted February 1, 2015 by Kim in That's a Wrap / 2 Comments

We’re now one month into a brand new year! What better time to revive my monthly wrap-up post AND give it a fresh new name? “Month in Review” was just too bland for my liking. That’s a Wrap isn’t exactly unique – I’m sure there are probably 8,000 other bloggers who use it – but I like it.

January was one heck of a month! I started my first year of living on my own (and I’m excited!) and crossed a new state off my list of places I’ve visited (California FTW!). I spent eight days in San Diego for work. Let me just say, there are much worse places to spend 1/4 of January than California. It was lovely there. I was so wiped out at the end of the long days that I didn’t spend much time outside of my hotel room, but I did have one day to do fun things. There was just one thing on my to-do list for San Diego – seeing the Unconditional Surrender (aka Times Square Kiss) sculpture.

I also got to see several lovely sunsets from the Convention Center. Not the most glamorous location, but you can’t argue with colors like these. #nofilter

Of course, all that running around in warm weather and then heading back to the frigid tundra of DC left me with a horrendous sinus infection that it took nearly two weeks to get over. I used all that downtime for the big blog redesign!

I’m in love with nearly everything about the new blog. I still have quite a bit of work to do (reformatting ALL THOSE REVIEWS) but it’ll get there in time.

The other big thing in bookish new is… I’ve been blurbed! I’ve been blurbed in eBooks before – and on Amazon and other places – but never in a PRINT copy of a traditionally published book. It was so exciting to walk into Barnes & Noble, pick up a copy of a book by one of my favorite authors and see my words on, like, the third page! This is from Tessa Bailey’s Risking It All.

That’s all the big bookish news from January, but here’s a quick breakdown:

Total number of books read: 24
Young adult: 4
New adult: 8
Adult: 12
Books DNF’d: 1

Looking Ahead

There are some awesome things happening in February! First and foremost, MY BIRTHDAY! Ok, so I’m not nearly as excited about turning a year older as I am to offer you 28 Days of Birthday Giveaways in celebration. Enjoy!

The thing I’m looking forward to most is ApollyCon! It promises to be a bookish good time with all kinds of amazing friends and authors. I can’t wait to *finally* meet two of the bloggers I’ve grown closest two over the last few months AND see my other blogger and author friends again. Plus, I’ve never actually been TO Philadelphia, so even more win!

Of course, there are some awesome books coming out in February, too. Here are a few I’m really excited to *finally* get my hands on! (Full disclosure: I’ve read The Return, but it was a borrowed copy. I can’t wait for a Seth that’s alllllllllll miiiiiiiiine.)

Books I need in my life immediately!

The Return Thoughtful Invaded The Ruby Circle

And, of course, I have to mention just a few February releases I read early that you MUST check out. I loved these books so hard!

Books YOU need in YOUR life immediately!

  1. What a great month! Despite the horrible sinus infection. 🙂

Hero – that was such a fantastic book. Loved it. I just got Thoughtful off Netgalley. So I have to admit that I wasn’t a fan of Thoughtless (and I know I’m in the minority), but I kinda hoped reading his POV would change my mind? Worth a shot.

SO awesome you are in a print book!!! That’s so exciting.

I’m really excited to read I’ll Meet You There.

Loving all the new changes to your blog!

  2. Oh I love SD SO SO SO SO much. If I could move there, I so would. That’s awesome you got to go for work!

Oh man! I still need to read Loop, Hero, and DBF! I’m hoping to get to all of those really soon.

I just got my preorder of I’ll Meet You There so I’m am SO excited! I can’t wait for The Ruby Circle either. I need more Adrian in my life!
