She wants a summer job and a ride to a wedding.

He wants an assistant and a distraction from the mess his life had become.

They didn't know they needed each other.

Avery Emili needs two grand. Two grand and a plane ticket--her sister is counting on her to get to Jamaica for her wedding. But the semester is over, and tutoring college freshman and high school students has dried up until the fall.

Atticus Grimes needs help--the messy split with his wife left the twenty-eight year old professor scrambling to keep things together as the semester winds down. Now he's got a research grant he has to actually do research for and all he wants to do is drown himself in a tall bottle of bourbon.

When Avery sees his ad for an assistant, all she's thinking is a summer job. But as they spend time together, in the office and out, both of them begin to realize something is there. Something that can't happen--he's a professor and she's a student. And both of them have histories, pasts that won’t let go. Can two broken people pulled apart by expectations find a way to be whole?

in review my thoughts

Nazarea Andrews’ University of Branton series is one of those that I’ve seen around everywhere, but never read for myself. Until now anyhow. I’m not sure why I waited to dive into this series, but I’m glad i finally did. It was fun and sexy and romantic and I read it cover to cover (so to speak) in one sitting.

Avery and Atticus begin the book as strangers, then he hires her to be his research assistant. They share a mutual attraction, but nothing can happen between them because he’s a professor at the university she attends. Ah, forbidden love. It really is the strongest pull, isn’t it? They do a good job of denying their feelings for awhile, but it doesn’t take too long for them to give into their urges and, let me tell you, it was hot as hell when they did. I needed a fan. Or a cigarette. Or something.

I liked both Avery and Atticus on their own, they were flawed but real, strong and complex characters. They were something special when they were together. They didn’t always get along and their banter was wonderful and realistic. They communicated with each other, something that is somewhat rare in the new adult genre. You could cut the sexual tension between them with a knife. I do love a good teacher/student romance, and while Avery wasn’t his student, their relationship would still be frowned upon. But sometimes it’s worth taking the risk if you’re chasing something real. And they were.

This Love was a fun, sweet and sexy romance. It didn’t end with what I would consider a cliffhanger, but there’s definitely more to these characters and their relationship and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I received a copy of this book from the author one change for an honest review.

About Nazarea Andrews

Nazarea Andrews is an avid reader and tends to write the stories she wants to read. She loves chocolate and coffee almost as much as she loves books, but not quite as much as she loves her kids. She lives in south Georgia with her husband, daughters, and overgrown dog.

  1. This sounds like a great and steamy read. I don’t think it is for me though, because I would probably end up imagining my grad school adviser and that would be weird and creepy.

BTW, I like your new template. 🙂

Haha. Yeah, that could be awkward.

Thanks! I had a snow day Monday and decided it was time to look for a new template. 🙂
