Here’s a little secret about me: though I read primarily eBooks, I still love love love looking at book covers. (And yes, admittedly, I do judge a book by its cover.) In an effort to narrow down my selections for today’s Top 10, I’m selecting my favorites from *only* books I’ve read this year that were published this year.

In no particular order, here they are…

With Every Heartbeat (Cities of Love #1) – Melody Grace
I love the original cover for this book. It’s colorful and romantic and beautiful. But I do agree that it doesn’t fit the steamy-sexiness of the story quite as well as the new cover does.

The Art of Letting Go (The Uni Files Year One) – Anna Bloom
I have a thing for Polaroid photos and handwriting fonts. This cover has both. It’s no wonder I love it so much!

Fangirl – Rainbow Rowell
Rainbow Rowell always has the best whimsical covers. From the colors to the adorable illustration, I love everything about this one.

Where the Stars Still Shine – Trish Doller
The cover for this book is absolutely magical. I love the out of focus quality of the photo, the light bokeh and the colors. It’s what originally drew me to this book. The story inside is just as beautiful.

Someday, Someday Maybe – Lauren Graham
I love New York. I love the Brooklyn Bridge. I love photography. This cover is gorgeous.

Eleanor & Park – Rainbow Rowell
Yep, that’s right. Two Rainbow Rowell books on this list! Again, I adore the illustration. And that little ampersand made from the cords of their headphones? Sigh. I love it.

Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices #3) – Cassandra Clare
While completely different from pretty much every single other cover on this list, I think it is gorgeous. It perfectly fits the story inside.

For Internal Use Only – Cari Kamm
Confession time: I really, really didn’t like this book. The cover, however, is gorgeous. The black and white photos arranged with a heart in the red space in the center? Lovely and creative. The typewriter font? Excellent. I only wish the story had lived up to the cover.

Very Bad Things (Briarcrest Academy #1) – Ilsa Madden-Mills
This cover so perfectly encompasses everything about the book. It’s perfection.

Everbound (Everneath #2) – Brodi Ashton
I love the covers for each of these books. They’re beautiful and romantic with the flowing dresses. So many <3<3<3s for these books.

  1. I clicked through to see the new cover for With Every Heartbeat, I haven’t read the book, but based on covers alone I like the original better too. The only pick we share is Clockwork Princess, it is just so pretty and has a really ‘epic’ feel to it imho 🙂
